It is difficult to tell if you are that myopic or if you think we are? That argument might fly on other boards but not here buddy lol.

QBs have feet to go along with the arm and that one ran for 106 yards averaging 5.8 YPC, threw 30 passes without a single interception, and was never sacked.

For a rookie QB against a "top defense" that is lights out football. No mistakes against a seasoned defense is all it takes to win in most cases.

If our offense wasn't so anemic we could have won the game easily and Hurts' running would have simply been a side note. His passing attack was pedestrian, managing only a 83.6 rating. For comparison, Hill had a 102.0 rating. Hurts' "bad throw" rate was 23.1% (Hill's was 18.9%). His completed air yards per attempt was a miniscule 1.6 yards. However, they did have 120 yards after catch. We had only 113 on eleven more completions. Those numbers are not indicative of having "lit someone up".

Our playing from behind the entire game put a ton of pressure on the defense. It created over-pursuit (we blitzed 12 times!) which resulted in those big plays on the ground. 40% of Hurts' rushing yards came on four scrambles. He had 14 other carries for the remainder.

By the way, Miles Sanders had over 71% of his 115 yards on one play. He only averaged 2.4 YPC on the other 13.

Hill's (and Payton's) inability to generate any offense in the first half is what allowed the Eagles' ground game to shred our tiring defense early on. Mistakes just compounded the problem. A few big plays, a bad interception, a bad fumble, and two missed FG's is what lit us up.

Re: Question about Saints losing to backup/rookie Qb’s

Hurts didn’t need to throw the ball. Their running game was so successful and they stuck with it. 246 rushing yards allowed, 6.8 yards per carry on 36 rushing attempts. Ridiculously bad. Yes, turnovers hurt, yes missed field goals and missed turnovers from our defense hurt. All three phases failed to step forward an “take control” of the game. Two months ago, roughly, the Cowboys gave up just over 300 yards rushing and I called it one of the worst defenses to EVER play the game. The Saints defense did some things well, but 246 yards rushing allowed and two 100 yard rushers, in one game is...

Utter failure.

Or a flipped coin four times out of 16 is tails and the 17th a tail? Difficulty flipping heads all the sudden?

Um, no. It’s obvious you have no control of a die roll. You do have control of a first time QB scrambling for 100 plus yards.

Re: Question about Saints losing to backup/rookie Qb’s

If I was planning a game against the Saints O with Hill as QB, number one thing I would do is NOT let him run off scrambles. I.E. contain. Eagles did that.

If I was planning a game against the Eagles with Hurts as QB, number one thing I would do is NOT let him run off scrambles. I.E. contain. Saints did NOT do this.

Simple formula to me.

Speaking of the run game, did you notice Trey Hendrickson or lack thereof? He's had a solid season but vs Philly, this was probably his worst showing. Blew containment on several occasions and run support was bad, bad.

Credit Philly def coordinator Jim Schwartz for finding a weakness and exposing it.

I'm anxious to see how our defense responds against against an elite Chiefs offense that can score points in a hurry.

Good grief.

This is my biggest fear heading into the playoffs … a possible visit (assuming we get that far) to Green Bay in late January.

Those elements could be down right brutal right Chris?

What’s the worst weather you’ve ever flown in Major? What do you think about those “storm chasers” who fly into hurricanes ?
