I pointed this out earlier ... only a fool would not realize that virtually every player in the NFL is at no better than 80-90% by week 15 of the season. I know you realize that fact, right? He will have had five full weeks of rest from the second set of injuries and six weeks from the previous ones. At this point he may be one of the healthiest players on the roster other than Winston who hasn't taken any hits this season hardly.

You are under the illusion that he isn't healthy enough to play right now. The Kansas City game was their target for his return all along according to Jeff Duncan and Nick Underwood (and others). I understand that YOU will never be convinced of that, but those that are much, much closer to the situation are convinced. The plan was always to return this week if able regardless of anything else according to those in the know. This was even talked about two weeks ago before we ever played the Eagles.

Honestly, this reminds me of the return from injury by Brees last season. Many people, including several of you B&Gers questioning his return this year, also questioned his return last year giving exactly the same arguments (reinjury, not ready, don't need him yet, Teddy/Taysom doing fine). Brees squelched those doubts however and I have a feeling he'll do the same this time around.

The ONLY reason that Brees is playing Sunday is because the Saints lost the Philly game, if the Saints had the one game lead on GB, Brees probably wouldn't see the field until the playoffs!

Brees is an exception to the rule though because admitting he is anything less than a God will fog up his rainbow and unicorn glasses. He had at least 4 more good years left in him.

Who ever said that Brees was 100%? Not I. And I put his good years left at three. Oh, I only wear glasses at night when I take my contacts out. Pretty stand fare for both. No rainbows or unicorns involved. I do wear sunglasses quite often, however. You know, those expensive ones from Ross.

My best friend is a doctor. When I broke my ribs one time I asked him if I could play. He said as your doctor I have to say no. But as your team mate I've got to say man we need you! I played and it was still painful.

We didn't have trainers so if it wasn't poking through the skin we felt like we couldn't let my team down. So, you can play without being fully healed. It's painful but it can be done.

I'm sure that's what you believe, or wish, but that is not what both Underwood and Duncan said. They both said (independently of each other) that they were told the plan was for Brees to play against the Chiefs regardless of where the team stood in the standings (prior to and after playing the Eagles). I tend to trust their direct insight over your intuition.

Personally, I would think that if the plan wasn't always to definitely return for the Chiefs (which it was) then a win over the Eagles would have made the game against the Chiefs MORE important and bringing Brees back to hold the #1 seed would be logical. On the other hand, with the loss versus the Eagles, the #1 seed was no longer in play logically and needing to bring Brees back early (which they aren't) would not be necessary.
