Kwon Alexander Torn Achilles

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; This injury is a big blow, the defense really started to play well once he came over. Feel bad for Kwon and wish him a speedy recovery. AA is going to need to step up and might be more packages ...

AA is going to need to step up and might be more packages for Swearinger. Up to DA to find ways around it but every team faces these situations and the great teams are the ones who step up and figure it out. Getting everyone on the D-line healthy so we can wreak havoc with our front 4 will go a long way towards helping with the injury.

Anzalone will need to tighten up game and limit the mistakes. Haven't given up on Anzalone yet, but Kwon has left some pretty big shoes to fill.

Mark Barron was recently cut from Denver ? Or Alec Olgetree?

We need someone behind Alex because as we know, he's injury prone.

I think folks are pretty short sighted on Anzalone. Calling out 1 bad play that was a 50/50 zone split is dumb. Our D crumbled the last 3 weeks with Anzalone on the sidelines.

Losing Kwon isn’t that bad, it’s more important we get a healthy D line and MJ stops getting dumb penalties called on him because he gets caught out of position.

We’ve been watching him **** up in coverage and get hurt for several years now.

It's almost like re-living the Shanle conversations from years back...

His whole collegiate and pro careers have been plagued by injuries, which isn't really his fault. I do acknowledge that I'm a bit of a Anzalone fan, and maybe even an apologist, but I do honestly think he is an above average LB in the league.

Anyway, he is probably gone after this season, so we'll get to see if it was the coaching/scheme or the player himself, which kept him from being a better player for the Saints.

Honestly, I'm more concerned about Baun's progress...

I think it would be unfair for us to create a Anzalone screwup mixtape. We could but what a waste of time. Just go back and watch the games.
I wouldn’t do that because I’m trying to focus on the positive for him.
He’s our only hope at this point.

This is a big, big loss. Kwon was a great addition to this defense.

He could cover TE's and WR's .. basically a safety playing LB.

Baun ain't ready though. Thor is gonna have to step up.

Re: Kwon Alexander Torn Achilles

There is no sugar coating the fact that losing Kwon is a big blow on the surface. However, the only way forward I see is to buckle down with the roster as is and go forward. Much like the thread about signing Stills or another FA WR, there isn’t going to be a player available that can step in week 17 and help.

If/when the D line gets healthy for the playoff push and the secondary is intact for the massive push a healthy D-line can provide AND the Offense can rack up 50 points like tonight....then I still like the chances of another SB. Let’s face it, the Saints just assured the team that knocked them out of the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years WON’T be able to do so this season. That’s a BIG psychological win IMO.

You think you know, but you don’t know...and you never will! Coach Jim Mora
