Saints will likely make decisions on extensions for Gardner and Davenport, using cap space this year, less rookie pool, to make space for next season...
Per Over the Cap, Tre'Quan was going have a near $1M dollar dead money hit which is why he was likely re-signed to gain some flexibility... We've yet to see true cap numbers for 2023 when it's expected to really jump, but based on projections, we're ~$33M+ over the cap for next year... Malcolm Jenkins' cap number is just north of $5.1M this year and next, so with his retirement, we should recover some relief there to be used to extend Gardner... |

Had hoped we could bring back Emmanuel Sanders, but with recent, necessary signings, and leaving cap space for the rookie pool, that may not happen...
That's too bad considering what Sanders could bring, his familiarity with our offense and clubhouse, and what he could offer in leadership to our rookies... |
