The only thing gained by the release of one of those TE's is the distance from fumbles, dropped passes, and mishandled catches that turn into interceptions.

release of one of those TE's? Why not just name the one?

I think Trautman will be a best and I do like the fact that he might be further up the TE depth chart come next season as that'll be good for his development.

In my mind, Trautman, by the end of his rookie season, was right there with Josh Hill at the top of the depth chart...

Jared Cook was just incapable of adapting and receiving criticism on how he needed to adjust in the Saints offense...

And then there was the inability to get open on his own, and a few costly turnovers...

Naming wasn't required. Only one of those two provided any cap relief (Josh Hill) and the other (Jared Cook) was obviously the one with the issues mentioned.

Personally, I expect Josh Hill to be re-signed at a more cap friendly rate later.

Josh Hill has been a soldier and frankly there's a double-standard on Payton's part in making sure guys that put it all out there for the team get commensurately compensated...

I get it's a business, but that's a convenient excuse for Payton et al, and yet we overspend on others who are useless or are a distraction in the clubhouse...

Reckon Hill might be back on a short deal myself.
