I hope Jameis does well in New Orleans.

Good way to start post Brees at the QB position, not to mention we may also draft one next month.
I'd be surprised if we don't. I doubt we have the long term answer in house. It may take twenty drafts to find the next one so we might as well start biting the bullet.

I’m not against a draft pick being spent on a QB. However I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more options out there at QB than even NFL scouts and coaches know. Everybody knows about Brady. Kurt Warner was stocking shelves. It’s hard to know what combination will work out. I’m not buying into Guido’s crap shoot theory, but provided the right conditions, it is surprising what can grow. Rosen, Darnold, Trubiski, Winston, are all physically talented guys who could become the next star if things line up. Guys like Rivers, Ryan, Newton, Stafford, Foles, Flacco are all examples of guys that showed they were capable of winning a SB IMO. I don’t expect it will be 10 years of drafts before the Saints obtain a QB they are comfortable with leading the team. Will that guy be the next Brees? Of course not. But we sure as hell can find an Eli Manning who won 2 titles.

All I am saying is that in historical perspective across the NFL finding a franchise defining QB can take and has taken decades. We may find one next year. It may also take us twenty, thirty years to find one. It is a gamble. There may be 15 QB's drafted this year alone. Or more. Of those all but a small handful will never start an NFL game. Most will never take a snap in a game.

Quinn: Drafting QB every year 'good football business'

Coming from New England, Detroit Lions general manager Bob Quinn knows taking swings at quarterbacks in the draft is a calculated risk every good organization should make, even if that swing misses.

"I think it's really good football business to acquire a young quarterback every year or every other year," Quinn said, via the Detroit Free Press. "There's such a value in the position and nowadays in college football there's a lot of spread offenses, which means it's a lot different than pro football. So it takes these young quarterbacks time to develop. So if you can add a young quarterback every year or every other year to your roster, it's good football business in my mind. So you have time to develop them, either on the practice squad or as a backup, before eventually them having to play in a game."
