Gary Bettman warns of NHL lockout if deal not reached by Sept. 15
With time running out on NHL labor talks, Commissioner Gary Bettman cautioned Thursday that the league is prepared to lock out its players if a new collective bargaining agreement is not reached by Sept. 15, when the current deal expires.
"Time is running short and the owners are not prepared to operate under this collective bargaining agreement for another season, so we need to get to making a deal and doing it soon," Bettman said after the two sides met at the league headquarters in New York. ... heard this little piece of news on sportstalk while driving around yesterday, "AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!" ... not again!
Holmgren loves to trade draft picks, and after the Carter-Gagne-Richards-van R trades, forward actually looks thin
I will be absolutely furious if this happens. I have a trip planned to Montreal on the 19th to catch the Caps Habs at Bell on the 20th. I have no idea what this would do to the game..... but Buttman and Goodell seriously need to be removed.
What's that? Are you referring to a lock-out? I tend to agree ... especially if I was planning a trip to Montreal as you are. That's not an every day occurrence and if they cancelled a game I was planning on attending while visiting, I'd be ticked ... especially Montreal, it's almost the 'Mecca' of hockey. If you do go & you got a camera phone, maybe get some pics of a little hockey history for the board, eh?
