I heard this on the news this morning.

With a possible lockout looming, the Red Wings have cancelled their annual training camp in Traverse City. Shame, Chad Billins was invited to skate with them...he'll probably go wherever they go though. Billins was a standout defensemen from Ferris State last season and is now under contract with the Grand Rapids Griffins, Red Wings affiliates.

The only reason, I feel a lockout might ensue is that this is the first season I've been able to purchase a season ticket package...so naturally, there would be a lockout.

It is all about the $$ now a days....you saw it with the NFL, you see it with the refs, NBA, etc. I predict this problem will get worse until unions disappear. Should always be split 50-50 in my opinion

I don't know about 50-50. If I own a business I am going to pay my employees what I think they are worth, and make as money as I can. I always used to side with the players in these standoffs, but now that they are millionaire prima donnas I look at the other side. The owner is the one risking hundreds of millions to put a team out there.
I know, I know, where would the game be without the players...? Simple, the same game with different players.

I agree, 50/50 is for the birds ... the owners are the one's putting up the capital and taking the risk, the players are employees and are well-compensated enough as it is. You can always go out and find a bunch of guys to run around in uniforms and play a game, try finding someone to build a stadium, maintain said stadium, pay for those uniforms, pay for the promotions, pay the salaries and invest in all the other logistical requirements of running a professional sports team.
