Javon Walker

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Walker would be a great pickup but we would need more than just Walker and GB's first rounder for the 2nd pick in the draft. Plus, I'd rather find a team we could get more picks from to fill some ...

Walker won't come cheap as some might think, this guy is a very good WR who can help take a team to the next step, I think adding him to our lineup with our already good WR's is a big plus, but we need a good OL first to make this work.

He comes at too hefty a price if you ask me. This guy has had one good year and people are willing to sell the farm to get him. Has anyone checked the Saints offensive line lately? Or the cornerbacks? I've never understood why people are willing to throw millions of dollars at wide receivers when their team has such other pressing needs.
There's a reason why there are so many wide outs available in free agency. There's also a reason why quality down lineman aren't. Walker is a good WR but he's not Steve Smith. I'd pay big money for Steve Smith because he's proven he can carry a team. Walker hasn't...not yet, anyway. Any if he can't block a defensive end then I'll pass.

Milwaukee paper yesterday-

With one year left on his deal, Walker would like to be traded or cut, but so far the Packers have not entertained the idea of parting ways with him, in part because it would set a bad precedent for other players unhappy with their contracts and in part because his value has decreased because he's still rehabilitating from the knee injury.

At least one AFC team has started doing homework on Walker, probably to see if it's worth making the Packers a trade offer, but it's unclear whether the Packers will even consider dealing him.

Thompson didn't dispute that teams have showed interest in Walker, but he said it stemmed from the receiver's recent public comments and not the Packers shopping him. He would not say whether the Packers would ever consider trading Walker, who sat out of off-season workouts last year in protest of his contract.

Actually, the guy has improved every year he has been in the league, like a WR is supposed to. And when he went to the pro bowl, he was STILL playing behind Ferguson and Driver until he just proved how good he was and got on the field. I'd rather have a stud WR heading up than taking another Az Hakim. But that's just me.

One word-sucks. And? Don't see how that is remotely related to Javon Walker, but okay man. 8)

Javon Walker equaled Robinson's best year TD wise in his second season, as the third option. Not even close.

Would be a great fit here. Doubt this trade will happen. Maybe another Horn down the road if he is over the injury. Stallworth will never be a true #1 reciever so we could surely use him. How long does his current contract run? I wouldn't want to sign the guy and he be a FA next year.
