Grady To Retire!!!

I got this from Sportsline.com:

Failing Grady?

The Saints are preparing for the possibility defensive tackle Grady Jackson will retire.

Jackson has spent the offseason away from the team's practice facility, which has not endeared him to the coaching staff. He also is said to be way overweight, which could also be impacting his decision, since he will be fined every day if he does show up.

When in shape, Jackson was a good player against the run. But he got too heavy last season, and when he didn't work it off after the season, the Saints had had enough. They moved Kenny Smith into his starting spot. Rookie first-round pick Jonathan Sullivan, who is unsigned, is expected to be the other starter. Veteran Martin Chase is a quality reserve.

Whoever plays inside is going to have to keep blockers off the middle linebacker. There is a chance rookie Cie Grant could be the starter, although he missed a significant amount of time in the rookie program because his class at Ohio State didn't graduate until late. Grant will compete with Orlando Ruff at middle linebacker. Grant is one of those fast players teams are now looking to get on the field.
