According to Fox Sports, Saints coach Sean Payton has a torn MCL and a broken tibia (broken knee).

The injury occurred in the beginning of the first quarter when Saints tight end, Jimmy Graham, was tackled on the Saints sideline into Coach Payton.

Payton remained down for several minutes while receiving attention from trainers and medical staff before he was helped to the bench.

Payton continued to call plays until the end of the first half and went get x-rayed during halftime.

Payton is supposed to coach the second half from the booth, but was still in the locker room into the first few minutes of the third quarter. It is still unknown if Payton will have to leave to go to the hospital.

Sean Payton surgery a success, according to New Orleans Saints - New Orleans Saints Football NFL News - NOLA.com



New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton underwent successful surgery Monday morning at Ochsner Medical Center to repair his left tibial plateau fracture and lateral meniscal tear, according to a news release from the team. Dr. Deryk Jones performed the surgery, assisted by Dr. Misty Suri. The surgery lasted three hours. Payton will remain overnight in the hospital for observations.

Me, too! Good idea on the card! I hope he gets tons of them....after all, the man has won us a SB...something that noone else has been able to do in the history of the franchise!

Have they discussed his prognosis and recovery?

Benson should get Nasa to make him a hovercraft like Professor X...
