I disagree with him being called a Thug.

Sometimes a facemask can't be helped... just because you get a facemask penalty doesn't mean you're a Thug. Stumping on someone... that makes you a thug.

Another thing A Saftey is taught is ALWAYS stop a TD. Yes even if it results in a penalty. Even take a interference call if it means not giving up a TD.

id rather have him agressive than SOFT...the way the NFL hands out fines and penalties makes NO SENSE...so you might as well go all out if your gonna get a flag anyway...by the way it was UNINTENTIONAL....if you want some soft gentile football, go watch the chargers...lol

No way that was intentional he was trying to make a play, that's all. Too aggresive, at times yes, but that is what he is paid to. Any team would be happy to have a safety of Roman Harper's character!!

If our resident Falcons fan likes your post, then there's obviously something wrong with it.

When you do a thing like this, it penalizes your team.
This was intentional.

Sometimes a facemask when tackling or a late hit is unintentional. These guys are runnning how fast and cannot stop on a dime.

I love, am all for agressive playing. Hard tackling. That is not dirty, but the NFL. It is not tennis or golf or baseball.

Someone mentioned The Burbon Street Bruisers, The Dome Patrol, smart, agressive, hard tackling, legal players.
I must have missed that incident. I'll be looking for it today when I rewatch the game.
The face mask that I saw was just bad luck after great hustle. Most folks on here seem to agree that he's a good representative, a hard player, team leader and is far from a thug.

Frankly, I like a "tough" defense - but the kind that Rickey Jackson and Vaughan Johnson led, not this thuggish brand that Harper has shown as of late...

Maybe if/when Greg Williams leaves after this season, he can take "Toast" with him...
What??? Without his facemask tackle/call yesterday we would have lost.
Football isn't a game for puzzies and I should know.

Roman Harper's cat.

I actually think that last hit was incidental--he was just running so desperately, got there just before the runner, and that was all that he could get ahold of--and for the most part I think he plays a clean game.

People complain a lot about Williams running blitzs, but I think a big part of it is wanting to ring the bell of the quarterback once or twice. There is nothing like putting that thought of being hit into the quarterback's head to get him to throw passes more quickly, and make mistakes. It's one of the intangibles one gets from Blitzing, in addition to the occasional sacks, and often leads to fumbles and interceptions, to state the obvious.

Remember how all the pundits whined all year long about the D being so bad--but they got the job done when it counted, and after all the job isn't to keep the other team to 0, but to keep them from scoring more than your team. I mean, it'd be nice, but in the NFL, it is pretty impractical to think you can get zeroes.
