Bingo. That's what I found intriguing. So the NFL knew, didn't ask for it, but he thought the should release it due to player safety?

Hmmmmm....

It's kinda interesting to ME in that exchange, that @Albert Breer asks Pamphilon "Did Gregg Williams know you were recording the speech?" and Pamphilon responds by flat out EVADING THE QUESTION HE WAS ASKED... he talks about the date the NFL knew he had the tape...not whether or not he had Williams' permission to record it. They were talking about implied consent, can you film or record someone without direct permission.

I agree with Mitch though. I think he released that stuff in order to get ESPN's attention about his documentary, that was stalling out and ESPN was dragging their feet on optioning it. It even said so on his own website, ESPN had accepted the concept and had a "first look" option to buy it, but he hadn't heard from ESPN at all in almost a year.

That he did. The whole conversation seemed off to me.

I tried on the "Tin Foil Hat" again last night, and I think there might be some problem with the "evidence" that is making the league be so gunshy about coming out with it and letting people see it. Implied consent, or recording something without permission (ie wiretapping, or secret cameras, secret eavesdropping on conversations, tapes obtained without permission, etc) would theoretically be one BIG reason, for someone to be able to say they have evidence, but not be able to share it with anybody publicly. I mean it might be what's going on, or it might not be, we just don't know and can't know.

Of all the negative stories recently, this one tops my list. Gleason trusted him to tell his story. He used and betrayed the man and failed to get the story told. I now seriously doubt it will ever be told. It's a moving life story that could have inspired and moved a lot of people especially those close to the disease. I hope I'm wrong.
