It appears Brees is held accountable for saints misfortunes

He played through a injury in 2010 and had to deal with not having his head coach last season and yet people look at him as the fourth best qb now?

He does throw more ints, but is this the measure of an elite qb by throwing less ints?
But in games that matter, he plays hard. I guess the media wants to believe that Brady and Rodgers would play just as good without their head coach? But do we know?

But look at this, when the pressure is on Brees and Manning they don't quit and can quickly snuff out a defensive game plan against them. Brees did not give up against SF in the playoffs last year. He also did not give up against the giants this past season until that second special teams TD that pretty much put the game away. Brees had one truly bad game against the broncos, but that was because that team was coming off of a bye week. I guess this could also be said for the giants trouncing Rodgers week 12. But Rodgers has shown that when defense comes on to him, he falls apart. Giants put pressure on him in playoffs and when Rodgers saw that CK wasnt going away he was the one that panicked and let the 49ers take over. I would even go on to say SF probably played conservative week 1 to let Rodgers try to get back in the game. He almost lost to the saints, but our offense lacked and he ended up able to get a comeback win. And we all know Brady is the worst, his past three rings should not take in account of what qb he is currently. But the rings and having all those weapons is what has put him as a top 2 qb among many experts despite the fact its been 8 years since he got a ring. Ravens twice and jets once have put the clamps on Brady in the playoffs and limited his success, Brady wouldnt recover.

Another stat Brees gets flack for is not winning road games in the playoffs. West coast road games have killed us and we were the unfortunate victim on those two years straight. Yet nobody else has won in Seattle or SF other than giants and cowboys in their glory years. Nobody has ever won in Seattle in the postseason since they moved to the NFC. Yet saints are the ones that get judged. Even though Brees puts up 30 something points in both those games, its not enough. And in today's NFL home advantage doesnt work anymore. Inexperienced is gonna lose at home to experienced everytime unless the home team is one of those two plus Arizona. Today home teams should be rewarded for winning at a time where no road team is afraid to go on the road in the playoffs. The home teams today are overconfident and the road teams play harder, saints have shown that they can play hard at home in the playoffs and not get rattled. Why are road wins today rewarded more than home wins, when the home teams have actually been the most vulnerable? I'd even go further to say Brees and the saints could win in Lambeau, Colonial, or meadowlands in the playoffs if given the chance. They just haven't been given it.

The truth is out there, with the exception of this past season Brees has played the best in all of the big games out of the top four qbs and Rodgers has played the worst. Brees and Manning play better than Rodgers and Brady against tough defenses. Brees and Manning are better at keeping up in a shootout than Rodgers and Brady. Today's experts and rankings are a hoax. Nobody cares about throwing all over the jaguars, titans, bills, chargers, raiders, and lions which have fueld up Brady and Rodgers' stats. Brees is at worst second best qb behind Manning.

Is 4th best bad? I'd have a hard time justifying anything better than that.

i really hate the off season. if anything Drew missed SP play calling to help him out. lets be honest the saints offense did not have that wtf play calling last year. every year each game has two or three plays that leaves defenses going what the? were did that come from? those plays usually came in the two minute drills. funny that is were drew threw big time int that more than once cost us the game.

Of course he is held accountable for the teams success, just as when the Saints win a Super bowl he gets most of the credit.

Its the nature of the beast for NFL QBs....

I think almost going .500 with no head coach, recievers with a serious case of the drops, an 0-4 start, and the almost the worst defense in history, Brees still did pretty good in my book.

4th best at what? Look where he is on the list for interceptions thrown. That is a killer and an important stat. I like Brees as much anyone but I wouldn't put him in the top 4 QB of last season based on his INT stats alone. Turnovers kill games.
