I admit I was wrong

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; RG was where the line stunk. Evans needed to go. If Peat takes over as RG and Strief holds up (again) for another year I would draft a good RT next draft to groom or take over for Strief. Last ...

Last season our pass protection and run game suffered from the right side. This season I can see running right not a problem and pass protection should be better also. I think Strief had to help Evans and Kelemete way to much and neither could help him out at all.

Agree. And Drew couldn't step up in the pocket as well as had in previous years. If Drew had a pocket to step up in to, Strief easily rides his man back and around Brees... no sack.

Saints expect Andrus Peat to start, but aren’t sure where | ProFootballTalk

and where are all of the experts who have been telling us for years that Brees can't see over tall linemen?

Why would anyone want to do that? It just doesn't make sense at all.
That's not saying much since the line didn''t come together until the very last part of the season.

Taking a step up was a huge problem for Brees. The right side getting fixed will be huge in the passing and run game. I would like to see big holes for Ingram to get a head of steam going into the second level not to mention Brees having time to throw. I don't worry to much about the O being good it's always our stinking D that gets us beat.

Mr. Peat's true position is TACKLE (Sean has said this a few times). If they choose to utilize him any place else, I'd be bummed because he will be out of position & detain his development as tackle.

After the dust settles, I hope Andrus ends back at the tackle position.

I think RT will eventually be his position. I don't think a season at RG will stunt his growth.

Besides, with a new O-line coach Peat might even surpass Strief in training camp/pre-season and end up starting at RT.

If we place our top five linemen on the field at the same time Strif and Peat will both be playing. Good Lord, I still have hope that we will trade for a guard.

Re: I admit I was wrong

I agree but LT. Who knows at what level he could play LT. He did really well from the snaps he got there. And he might beat Strief out at RT but I don't see it this year, RG I think he can do his best(other than LT) this season. Strief on one side and Unger on the other seems more likely. I'm hoping we find a diamond with the UDFA. Training camp hopefully gets interesting

I wonder if everyone would still be saying that if we'd used 3 mid-round picks on the OG's we acquired as UDFA's. We signed 3 OG's that were projected to be drafted in the mid-late rounds.

And of course there will always be veterans with a year or two left in the tank that will be cut before the season starts.
