Yeah, I SELECT to read that when Elway got a team around him, his rating went WAY up. I also select to read that Elway went to what 3 Superbowls with his ratings? Very selective.

As usual ... You are wrong!

John Elway went to FIVE Super Bowls!!

These are Elway\'s Super Bowl years (and QB Ratings)

1986- 79.0 QB Rating
1987- 83.4
1989- 73.7
1997- 87.5
1998- 93.0

Back to the drawing board for you, saintwhodi!

Nice try. I thought we were excluding the \"better rating years\" because you were saying I was being selective on those. Elway went to THREE SUPERBOWLS IN THE POOR RATNG YEARS. Try again. And you even provided the years to make the statement even more correct. Maybe I should let you argue yourself?

What? You lost me with that post.

The whole point is you \"selected\" Elway\'s best years as far as QB Rating was concerned.

I just showed you he went to 3 other super bowls and he didn\'t have very good QB Ratings.

Don\'t just look at part of the picture, saintwhodi. That\'s where you get yourself in trouble and it makes me have to spend a lot of time setting you straight.

You are not the only member on here that I have to set straight. I\'m a busy guy. Please be considerate of this. LMAO!!

That\'s not too hard.

Yes, exactly why I excluded them in the statement he went to three Superbowls.

I just showed you he went to 3 other super bowls and he didn\'t have very good QB Ratings.
Actually, I showed that to you, and am now having to explain it.

The day you set anyone straight is the day AB leads this team to a Superbowl. I think we all know when that will be.

You are not the only member on here that I have to set straight. I\'m a busy guy. Please be considerate of this. LMAO!!
AB fan website having trouble getting off the ground huh? Gotcha. lol Thanks for waking me up this morning.

First - Ben threw less than 300-passes last season.

Second - Ben threw only 17TD passes.

Third - Ben threw almost as many INTs (11) as he did TDs.
(1) That is good coaching, play calling, and game planning. If you\'ve got a rookie QB, that is what you should do. Obviously, the number of passes Ben threw isn\'t a reflection on his ability or on him much if at all. If you are merely pointing out that there isn\'t enough information on which to judge Ben, I agree if his stats are the only thing on which to judge him. He did however show a lot more on the field than his mere stats.

(2) Agreed, so what? The number of TDs thrown are not the only measure of a QB. He protected the ball and did what was asked of him - keep the defense and our running game in good position.

(3) Actually, 17-11 is 1.55 to 1, which is VERY high for a rookie QB. Most QBs who start within their first two years have this ratio around 1-1. So, this stat actually shows how good Ben was relative to others who have come in and started.

As for Vick, he\'s overrated. He has trouble throwing the short pass, which will hurt the team once someone figures out how to contain him. I agree with these claims - he can change the game like no one else, and he can run like a son-of-a-b**ch. However, I actually don\'t think those things make him a great QB - though they do make him a heck of a football player. Maybe that is a dumb distinction, but that is how I see it.

TR - Ron Mexico, I love it!

"... I was beating them with my eyes the whole game..." - Aaron Brooks

Could someone PLEASE explain this to Whodat?

The \"QB\" rating should be renamed to \"Team Passing Rating\" or something similar. The QB rating ain\'t all on the QB boys.

Let me know how that works out ...

WhoDat\'s problem is that he doesn\'t realize that the QB is affected more than any other \"single\" player by his teammate\'s play.

WhoDat prefers to hold Brooks soley responsible for completion percentage, not scoring enough in the first quarter (that fits this year so he uses it) QB rating, etc., ect.,...

WhoDat used to say the samething about McNabb when he never completed 60% of his passes. WhoDat said McNabb wasn\'t accurate enough and that\'s why he was below 60%. But McNabb proved him wrong.

Hell, Dan Marino only completed 60% of his passes TWICE in his first 10-years in the NFL. But that\'s Marino. I\'m sure WhoDat would make excuses for Marino and put the blame somewhere else.

BUT ... didn\'t WhoDat just say he preferred to place the blame on the QB and not somewhere else? I\'m sure he said that!!

The QB rating doesn\'t factor in a LOT of things. Something that jumps out at me...well...a couple things:

3 10 yard passes, TD. QB rating in the 140\'s.

2 incompletions and a 30 yard TD pass on 3rd down. QB rating 111-ish.

QB completes a 5 yard pass behind the line of scrimmage for a 5 yard loss and his rating will be better than that of the QB who chose instead to throw the ball away.

Weather isn\'t a factor, which is one of the reasons you\'ll never see Brady\'s rating top Mannings.

It doesn\'t factor in poor route running or WR\'s dropping catchable passes.

There are a MILLION things that are wrong with using the QB rating to judge a QB. Most players, fans, and even agents agree. Some people just like numbers I guess.

I am the Genie of Sound. Everybody get down!
