Random Thoughts
Many of us, politicians included, knew when New Orleans took a hit it was gonna be bad.
1. I don't have a big beef with Louisiana and local governments and the perceived lack of preperation. I think back on the last twenty or so years of the state's economy. Poor. If, ten years ago, Lousiana officials chose to sink billions into physical improvements for hurricane protection, many would scream bloody murder. New Orleans and state money was thin. Yes, the city has unique flooding and hurricane concerns. Hell, when three or more folks spit at the same time in the city you gotta pump it out. 2. Until you know she's failed you in a bad way, take it easy on your Governor - she can't repair a levee. 3. Don't pound your mayor for headin' to Baton Rouge in the early days - he could probably do a better job where the phones worked. 4. Our federal government may be a different story. Hopefully we'll learn later why the response was seemingly lacking. Perhaps it takes specific planning to crank up the big machine and do it right. America has never been faced with anything like this. Yes, we expect 'em to be on top of everything and provide at the drop of a hat. Sometimes we're quick to judge. It'll be different next time. As much as I hate to say it - It's live and learn. It's a shame New Orleans is the guinea pig. 5. Given similiar challenges, you'd probably see the same looting in any other major US city. 6. I'd hate to think the lack of immediate response in New Orleans had anything to do with class or social standing. 7. It's really tough to protect in a planning ahead kinda way. Sometimes you know an intersection in your town needs a traffic light? It takes a crash or two to get it done. 8. I can sit here and say I'd never loot. I can also say never say never. 9. Something good will come out of this. Time and time again my trust in the Lord, and lack of it, at times, has proven so. 10. Some politician said he questions whether New Orleans should be rebuilt at all and whether it's worth it. I'd like to kick him square in the nut-sack (See #9). 11. When I see the New Orleans mayor speak on TV, I think he's just smoked a big bowl. 12. Warrick Dunn challenges all NFL players, except Saints, to contribute $5,000 to relief. Thanks Louisiana, for loaning him to Tallahassee for a few years. We love him. 8) |

RE: Random Thoughts
1. I think everyone should have a HUGe beef with the local and State government. They said there was a plan if the levee ever broke. The Army Corps of Engeneers said there was suppose to have been and they were called in and couldn't find anyone or anything equipment ect in place to fix this... Nor was the mayor or govenor staged anything in another part of the state to prepare for anything lot even treated it like a tropical storm.
2. The Govenor treat the Saints situation just like she treated this... didn't want to build a new stadium and wanted to tax New Orleans to pay to keep the Saints yet the State/BR benefited from the Saints being in the state. She Didn't have a plan in case NO got dumped on... she didn't have anything staged in BR did nothing... Mayor throws his hand sup in the air and yells SOS... and runs to BR 4. The Govenor has to ask for Federal help... I am sure we'll see what the problems were and I feel they could have done things like sent the USNS even if it wasn't needed it could have came in behind the hurricane if nothing else as part of a drill... military could have been there from day one if called apon. 5. Granted Looting... survival... I did see cops let 3 guys go once they say that they were carring food and fluids out and not TV's. 6. I think the lack or delay was due to piss poor planning from the local and state government. 7. They said there was a plan in case the levee broke... ya know the big one is coming and you do nothing. Where was the plan... they outright lied there was NO PLAN. 8. Hey... if I had a family i'd do what I had to to survive. 9. I hope they decided to rebuild in a different location... it'll happen again maybe not our lifetime but... it will. 10. maybe they should consider moving it though... its below sea levee hello. 11. I agree its his fault to... he's got some blame in this telling people where to go only to have them stranded with no food and water at the convention center. 12. Dunn HELL YES... Dunn for President!!! Also you got to give props to Turley as well. |

RE: Random Thoughts
Hey guys! The main thing is here is that we want to help the people devastasted by this tragity. We are all fans and we are all good people right?
I have invited any family to my home in Idaho for the purpose of saving a life. Lets all focus on that. The government was not to blame for the tragity. They are to blame for the poor response time. It was not racial or ethical or anything else. It was a bad judgement call. It had nothing to do with race or color or social class. In my opinion, the National, State or Local government would not have wished this on anyone. Lets all get along and and look forward to the Saints going to the Superbowl this year!!! |
