According to an NBA legal expert I was listening to on the drive in this morning there are guidelines that the NBA would have to play by to vote him out. And a bigoted statement made is private is far from meeting those guidelines. He also said that Sterling was ready for that fight and would not be willing to sell the team.

My favorite part of the interview is when he said Sterling probably already has dirt on half of the other owners and certain things they had said in private. So kind of a "throw the first stone, if I'm out they are out" defense.

I'm not defending him as I think he should be thrown out. But it could get ugly fast for the NBA. Of course, that would be part of the fun.

As bad as this is, what is being overlooked is a tiny little fact that it is illegal to record a conversation, particularly if it is in ones private home, in Cali sans mutual consent somewhere on that tape. Rights were violated. He may have to sell the team, but he will be taking her to her the cleaners for violating his civil rights. Is there any outrage over what she also did?

He'll sue the panties off the NBA for making it impossible to run his team and losses due to his investments. The NBA will grandstand and make press releases today but will buckle under the real pressure of a legal system.

Owners constitution or not, there are millions or billions at stake here and what you won't hear about is the massive settlement and payout the NBA will be forced to deal with.

I can say this... as much as Cuban is an arrogant entitled douchebag, he nailed it with his statement.

I will admit this... I am a minority. If you were to record me while I was driving, especially in traffic(I have terrible road rage), I'd make Sterling look like an ant. Some things just aren't made to be public. Unfortunately for him, it was. I don't condone what he said, but to practically force him to sell his team, it's way overboard. This reeks of Roger Goodell-ism in a new commissioner trying to make his mark and set an example. A life time ban is way too harsh imo.

I grew up in a mixed income neighborhood... I don't discriminate. I have white, black, mexican, asian friends... good friends. While I've said some dumb **** in my life, I'm no racist... but I have been ignorant. Now I don't know if the same applies to Sterling, who is a known racial discriminator, I'm just saying it doesn't always go hand and hand. I think people who are passing judgement, especially some of the celebrities, should look at themselves in the mirror and then talk.

We've all said dumb ****. If you haven't, well... you must be a saint. If we were to wire up pro athletes 24/7, I'm not sure we'd have competitive sports anymore.

I have a big problem with the guy because he's a careless wealthy moron and gets what he gets. I don't pity him at all.

What I have a bigger problem with is that he was a bigot and talking about it in the privacy of his home and someone recorded it without his permission and transmitted it to the world....the problem I have is my own privacy and not his. I also do not work a multi-billion dollar corporation with hundreds of employees.

He's a sad little man and sad little men have the right to be wealthy idiot bigots in the privacy of their own home. BUT as others have said, he owns a business and it just wasn't meant to be. It can break wiretap laws in every direction, but in private business, the consequences are what they are.

Your correct. You can't just outlaw stupid or protect it from itself with laws.

You can however discriminate against stupidity and maintain separation. That is usually covered by the CoBC. The NFL calls it protecting the shield.

I agree with everything you are saying (and usually do) except one thing: as a franchise owner, Sterling should be held to a higher standard then common folk. And while I agree he was (wrongfully) baited, I just don't see how any other consequence would have been sufficient...
