The most disgusting part of this whole mess to me isn't the fact that he's a racist, thats been pretty well documented for a couple of decades, and its not that the media has ignored that fact and suddenly jumped on him for it, its because he has a wife and no one is mentioning that little fact.

What he said in private to his paid tr______ girlfriend- escort was not racist. He was telling her what he requested of her. It was a private conversation.
He did not want her bringing Black people to the games as in sitting courtside, in the suite by her and him, them. He did not want her putting her pictures taken with guys like Magic Jonhson out on her FB, Intagram.
She was his "paid friend" and they simply had a lovers' quarrel over the telephone.
I assume that she always being with him, sitting courtside with him, etc., all players, his staff, etc. knew she was his girlfriend and he did not to be humilatated by her.

If he had said in an interview,publically, he did not want Blacks, Whites, Handicapped people, Gays, etc. going to the games, that that would be different.

All the celeb world, talking heads on the news shows, etc. are all up in arms over this.

When WAS a racist proven case with him is the case in which he was fined by the govt. for housing discrimination and more. That was some years ago and no one from the celebs, talking heads in the media, NBA players, the then Commis , this Comiss, etc. said one word.
He is a proven slumlord.
No one then from NBA players, the then Comiss or this one, celebs, talking media heads never said one word.

He has to sell, well, politley putting it , be forced to want to sell his team because he is bad for business for the NBA.
The others in the private club will want him out because they do not his problems tainting them , their various business staffs, team, other businesses, fans, city, etc.

Thing is , where I think legally there might a case is that Shelly Sterling owns 40 % or 50% of the team . I have read both figures. Who are the other owners if there are any of the L.A. Clippers? Why,how is she penalized for him?
Talking heads, LaBron James and he said NBA players, etc. have said they want no Sterlings owning the team.
SSterling said that is one of the NBA owners' wives have done soemthing , would they, the good ole boys' owners, be forced to sell their team? Ans. NO!!!!!
Ok, lets say she is politley forced too to sell. Fine. Then as a compromise, her son-in-law can cont. running that business. Daughter, other kids, if there are any can still own the team. They andn the NBA can bring more minority owners in. Out someone's face up as the owner. She can be a silent owner. So much for silence when she is known player in the NBA and this mess. I think this will be a legal sticking point in trying to politely make her sell. Politely make her children sell....

Suicide .
The Sterlings ' son, of their kids, killed himself a few years ago. Drug overdose. All that money and no happiness or peace in life.

The estranged wife vs. the current paid girlfriend.
The Mrs. sued the V. Svitano current girlfriend thing for fraud, etc. in March. Word is V. Svitano said she would get back and BOY OH BOY, did she!!!!


Prostitute.
Sterling had his prostitute from a years ago attend NBA business or other business meetings of hers. Set her up in a Bev Hills home. She sued him for things and the house and he won that case.

Freedom of Speech/Right to privacy.
If anyone here , anywhere says they would not mind their private phone coversations, talk inside their homes, in their cars, in emails , etc. to family and friends released to their cleints, supervisors, neighbors, students, then YOU ARE LYING!!!!! Reporting/taping private talk about a crime to the police is legal.
I will say I am NOTLYING and I would NOT want my private calls, emails, talk inside my home, car, doctors' office , etc. released to the public.

I don't see how the NBA can force him to sell the team legally. And I personally don't think he's racist. He's an elitest and thinks he's above everybody. Not just African Americans. A racist wouldn't pay Doc Rivers, who's married to a white woman, $7mil to coach his team.

I'll go a little more than just elitist... His birth name is Donald Tokowitz, only vanity would make a person change their Sir Name to gain favor. Id pretty much file him under the category of narcissist.

Exile and I have gone round and round about this. The catch to understanding the legality of it, is perception.

This is not a company he built from the ground up, he doesn't own the IP, or the team name, colors, etc... That is all owned by the NBA and licensed by Donald Sterling or what ever corporation he set up to do the licensing from the NBA.

Donald Sterling is not the sole owner, of the one team yes (even not that but for the sake of argument) but that one team is only a small part of what is the NBA. Its a partnership, and this should be something that people keep in mind when going into a partnership. Before Donald Sterling was allowed to own or lease anything he had to agree to the terms and conditions of the contract that governed that partnership. Unless written by someone very inexperienced, which you can bet these are not, there are clauses that govern conduct (to protect the partnership) along with everything else. If those terms are violated, the lease/licensing/franchise agreement can be terminated with a majority percentage/number vote from the rest of the partners

As I said to Exile, they aren't forcing him to sell; they are forcing him to want to sell. The Clippers go from its present value to $0 (with the exception of hard asset depreciated resell value) if his franchise is revoked. He doesn't want to lose everything so his only other option is to sell it and recoup what he can. The alternative is that he refuses to sell it, the NBA revokes his charter, all of the players contracts are void (just like the NFL those contracts are with the league and have league approval), leaving him with any buildings, buses, cars, merchandise that has the Clippers name on it making it unsaleable until he removes the name which is owned by the league or he pays the league a royalty. The league doesn't want to lose a team and he doesn't want to lose hundreds of millions.

“We continue to follow the process set forth in the NBA Constitution regarding termination of the current ownership interests in the Los Angeles Clippers and are proceeding toward a hearing on this matter on June 3,” said NBA spokesman Mike Bass.

Termination Charge - is to terminate his rights to protected intellectual property. This is where the league has the leverage to force him to want to sell.

Ownership interest - That tells you right there that he isn't the sole owner of the Clippers. The League owns the important parts, like the name.

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has finally responded to the NBA’s May 27 deadline in a bid to save his ownership of his basketball team. Sterling had until Tuesday to protest the league's charge in advance of a June 3 hearing in which the NBA's other 29 owners will vote whether to force Sterling to sell his team, using bylaws in the NBA’s constitution that Sterling has agreed to for years.

As most pointed out when Adam Silver banned Sterling from the NBA, the commissioner’s decision – while just – was far from a knockout punch. Now a frustrated league and its weary fans are wondering if we’re even out of the first round of this fight.
