Re: Clippers Owner Banned 4 Life

So the PC Police finally come back and bite a rich white liberal democrat right in his friggin ass. Don't feel sorry for him in the least.

I am concerned with the slippery slope Mark Cuban referred to.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says NBA faces 'slippery slope' if it starts to kick owners out of the league for things they think and say in private.

"I think you've got to be very, very careful when you start making blanket statements about what people say and think, as opposed to what they do. It's a very, very slippery slope.

"In this country, people are allowed to be morons," Cuban said. "They're allowed to be stupid. They're allowed to think idiotic thoughts. ... Within an organization like the NBA, we try to do what's in the best interest of the league and that's why we have a commissioner and a constitution and I think Adam will be smart and deal with Donald with the full extent available. But, again, if you're saying a blanket, 'Let's kick him out?' I don't want to go that far because it's not about Donald, it's not about his position, it's about his mess - and what are we going to make a decision on?"

Cuban called it "damn scary" to consider removing somebody from the NBA because of their private thoughts.

"He's obviously racist, he's obviously bigoted. And in this day and age when you're in the public eye, you've got to be damn careful - if that's your position and that's unfortunately where you're at - you better be damn careful what you say, even in the privacy of your own home.

"But regardless of your background, regardless of the history they have, if we're taking something somebody said in their home and we're trying to turn it into something that leads to you being forced to divest property in any way, shape or form, that's not the United States of America. I don't want to be part of that."

While I find him to be an ignorant bigot, I find the punishment to be quite harsh. Those were his private beliefs not meant to be made public. I'm sure he wouldn't have said those thing knowing that it would. That chick is a money grubbing fame whore. They're actually a great fit for one another.

I think they should have allowed his players to become free agents immediately upon the end of the league year, and if he can assemble a team so be it. But whatevs, I don't really care what happens.

That punishes their fans. I don't agree with that at all

As bad as this is, what is being overlooked is a tiny little fact that it is illegal to record a conversation, particularly if it is in ones private home, in Cali sans mutual consent somewhere on that tape. Rights were violated. He may have to sell the team, but he will be taking her to her the cleaners for violating his civil rights. Is there any outrage over what she also did?

He'll sue the panties off the NBA for making it impossible to run his team and losses due to his investments. The NBA will grandstand and make press releases today but will buckle under the real pressure of a legal system.

Owners constitution or not, there are millions or billions at stake here and what you won't hear about is the massive settlement and payout the NBA will be forced to deal with.

For what it's worth, Sterling is actually a registered republican.

Donald Sterling is a Republican and has given money to Democrats. His politics don’t matter.

I don't find the punishment harsh because Sterling knew what the consequences of an action like this could be when he became an owner of the Clippers.

I read this today:
Several league officials – including owners and Board of Governors members – told Yahoo Sports they believe Silver has been studying the nuclear option on Sterling: a provision in the NBA's bylaws that would allow Silver to summon a vote of league owners to strip Sterling of his ownership. The NBA would run the Clippers until the team could be sold.
So it's within the rules to force an owner to sell their team in a situation like this. Sterling knew that, yet he didn't care. Can't really feel sorry for him if you ask me.
