No billionaire or multimillionaire would enter into a co-op business business venture with out the ability to get rid of bad eggs.

The NFL has to vote to allow a new owner and they can vote to eject a new owner.
According to an NBA legal expert I was listening to on the drive in this morning there are guidelines that the NBA would have to play by to vote him out. And a bigoted statement made is private is far from meeting those guidelines. He also said that Sterling was ready for that fight and would not be willing to sell the team.

My favorite part of the interview is when he said Sterling probably already has dirt on half of the other owners and certain things they had said in private. So kind of a "throw the first stone, if I'm out they are out" defense.

I'm not defending him as I think he should be thrown out. But it could get ugly fast for the NBA. Of course, that would be part of the fun.

One thing I learned from drinking. You should always go Christmas caroling with a group. Oh, and always in mid-December.

I've yet to meet a lawyer that doesn't consider himself a "legal expert".

Sterling can have what he likes. A 29-1 vote is a 29-1 vote, and without proof "tape of conversation" it has no weight.

They can force him out and if he doesn't want to sell them so be it.... The NBA can void his franchise and allow a new owner to start another.

You don't seriously think that the Commissioner banned him with out first consulting the NBA's legal department and the other owners?

Sterling purchased the Clippers in 1981 for 15m, the Clippers are presently worth an estimated 700m-1b..... He will be forced to sell and I've zero pity for any idiot that gets a $700m payday for speaking honestly.
Every player on that team would find another team to play for. And if they wanted to stay they could. I said give the players the option to leave if they want to.

Fun conversation. The NBA banned him but they can't make him sell it. Get ready for a fight.

And you can bet the race pimps will want their share as well... racist versus racist.

This has money-grab shakedown written all over it.

My guess is more harm will come of this than good.

My guess is that his players have used the N-word on the court, more times than he has.

Ok... He has a cartel of lawyers... The NBA is comprised much like the NFL... Meaning this will be 1 Cartel of lawyers vs 29 cartels of lawyers.

I've seen this happen many times. There are multitudes of ways the League can make him "want to sell"...

What would your decision be given the below.
Your team is worth near 1BN, and your options are to sell or:

1. The League revokes your franchise and starts a new team in another city with a new owner. Your franchise value will be $0.
Example (close enough to get the point): There is a Copelands of New Orleans building in Lafayette La. on Ambassador Caffery that has never been open, yet it has stood there for at least 15 years... a few hundred yards down the road is an open and fully operating Copelands of New Orleans. Why was it never opened? Because the owner bought the property and the rights to the building but never paid for the rights to the menu. Did Copelands force him to sell? No but they made sure that building has never opened for business and the owner cant afford to demolish it and start over. Can the NBA force him to sell depends on how you view the word "force"? The league can revoke his franchise and leave him with nothing but bills and operating costs.

2. Your ownership stake is going to be diluted to a fraction of its original value. Your hefty income becomes $1.45/year

Forcing someone to sell doesn't always mean them selling against their will, sometimes you can force that person to want to sell.

It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see. ~ Henry David Thoreau
