Packers are in similar boat with Saints

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; All I’m saying is Tampa just beat us at home and just beat GB at home. One team has a QB that can’t throw deep, one is the best at throwing deep. Both teams could have defeated Tampa if plays ...

When a team knows they don't have to defend deep it makes their job easier and yours a helluva lot harder.

After losing his past three NFC Championship Game appearances and going 1-3 over his career in this game, Rodgers is attempting to avoid becoming just the third QB to have fewer than two wins and more than three losses in conference title matchups (Ken Stabler and Donovan McNabb are both 1-4)

Let's here what a "failure" Brees and the Saints are again!

Our defense is better than GBs and kept us in the game. Those three interceptions were horrible as well. While Cooks fumble was huge, we still weren’t able to really move the ball on offense before or after. That opening drive should have been a TD. We didn’t even attempt anything in the end zone. There were plenty of times when Brees had WRs down field and he didn’t pull the trigger...Why is that? Then go look at Brees stats for the the Bucs. If you are going to play the short passing game you better be accurate and have some zip on the short passes so you can actually complete them. Brees had neither.

I’m not saying that Hill or Winston would have won the game but I think we all just wonder what could have been with a QB that would have at least tried to test the defense.

This is one of the few SP-era playoff game losses that can be blamed on the offense.

I still think what doomed us besides the INT's the Cook fumble and the TD callback was Taysom being out.
He was able to duck in and out of plays and kept our Offense unpredictable.

With Taysom holding the clipboard on the bench the Arians Man knew Brees was a sitting duck.

I agree 100%!

I will always believe that the Saints would have beaten KC with Hill at QB.

Facts.

Just looking at some of Baldy's breakdown on that Tampa/Saints game, Bowles often had 3, 4 guys trail with Alvin. 4 defenders, leaving Mike and Sanders with man coverage.

One of the only times the Bucs were "tricked" is when AK was under center/wildcat, tossed it to Jameis and he slung it 40 yards to a high school wide open 3quan.

It was obvious that they didn't respect the deep pass from Brees.

For 2021, I simply want to see our next QB stretch the field & keep defenses honest.

** Edit - Jameis threw it 50 + yards with little effort.

Total BS on the throw. The ball that Winston threw was 28 air yards so don't give me this 50 yard crap and it was a throw I could have made. The key was coverage broke down and 4 defenders went after Kamara on the wheel route.
