IDK, I'm just not expecting the needle to move much with DCarr in New Orleans (assuming he signs). Hopefully, the Saints/Mickey draw the line on compensation.

Waller missed 8 games last year. Renfrow missed 7. Adams had 1,500 yards and 14 TDs. Jacobs had a career year. Raiders defense was ranked like 28th. I’m not convinced Carr is a star but I’m intrigued.

I think we're contenders to be honest. Let's have a look at some of the QB's that were in the playoffs:

Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa got them there. They lost by 3 points to the Bills with Skylar Thompson at QB in the Wild Card round.

Seattle Seahawks: Geno Smith

New York Giants: Daniel Jones

Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins

Baltimore Ravens: Tyler Huntley. One stupid fumble away from winning in the playoffs.

San Francisco 49ers: Brock Purdy

None of these guys are world beaters. 49ers almost went all the way with a 3rd stringer. It's all about health and can you go on a run.

We need to build the interior of this offensive line, grab Carr, and beef up at running back. Moves on the defensive side of the ball would be a nice cherry on top but I don't even think we have to if we can upgrade offensively.

This is a compelling argument. The Saints defense is solid and will hopefully add some players to the line and at DB. The offensive line is above average and they have the skill players to move the ball around the field.

Haven't much of anything from the Jets visit.

Daniel Jones reportedly wants $45M per season

WTH? What has DJones accomplished to command that type of salary?

No telling what DCarr's camp is asking but the Saints shouldn't break the bank either. Get your books in order & continue to draft well.

Next in line. If the Giants won't pay it, someone else will. Note that $45 million is the cost of the exclusive QB franchise tag.

The only way to have it both ways is to draft a QB high in the first round. Only there is the talent elite and the price tag for the first 5 years are reasonable.

That's why I find discussions about Carr, or Rodgers, or Jackson, or any other elite QB that could be available for trade or signing in free agency laughable. Their ballparks are $50 million a year, and likely almost all of it guaranteed. Unless you are an organization that's prepared to win like next year, it's just a waste of time.

Um, I'm ready to win next year. Besides, Carr isn't in that ballpark.

Of course you are ready to win next year. But that's because your are the ultimate optimist. The realist in me doesn't see a complete Saints team that's only missing a QB that's prepared to take on the final 4 from last year's conference championships yet. As such blowing out the salary cap to bring in a QB until we've addressed the holes in both lines, along with solid backups along virtually every position in the offense and the defense.

The Saints need an offensive identity independent of the QB. Bringing in a high priced mercenary isn't going to solve that problem.
