You ever make an initial mistake in judgement? Soon thereafter he DID call the teammate and hashed out the issue as adults PRIVATELY and came to a friendly understanding. It's called moving along. Letting things go. Not dwelling on the past. You know, adult sh!t.

With a full season under his belt in addition to OTA's/ training camp etc, it will be interesting to see what improvement(s) Cesar makes in year 2... at right guard.

As it was he only committed one penalty and allowed zero sacks according to the in-depth evaluation of every offensive line unit in the league a few weeks back. The kid is going to be another stud.

I'm hopeful Ruiz's technique will be improved in his second second. I saw some flashes as a rookie.

Something tells me Ruiz isn't quite done auditioning for the "long term" center position even though Erik has been a mauler in the middle.

He is undersized for a guard but that doesn't matter as much at center. There was a reason they drafted Ruiz to take over at center. McCoy was struggling with the calls at the line as a rookie and they wanted to bring in someone to make the calls at the line of scrimmage. Because of the Covid shortened preseason McCoy stayed at center and thrived in his second year. However, This TC we may see if Ruiz is better at center. Personally, I'd rather see the team kick McCoy out to center and let Ruiz play his natural position snapping the ball.

McCoy struggled with calls as a rookie? Or do you mean in rookie OTAs? Through his first 6 games of his career, Erik was ranked top 5 highest rated center in pass & run blocking in all of the NFL.

Rugs is talking about the defensive calls. As you know both the QB and the center read and identify the defense. Either one can call the Mike's number. As you pointed out his execution was great, but I'd read his defensive reads needed work early. By the way, that was Ruiz' strength in college. His coach said he correctly identified 99% of the defensive reads at center over his career.

And yet he was signed for his maturity, leadership, even as you posted - and he failed colossally, predictably in the locker room and in coverage...

It was a horrible re-signing and we will watch him get exposed as an older, troublesome defensive back in the way of an upcoming player...

All so Sean and Dennis can save face on a bad re-signing...

Rugs, as Major is reminding, that was Ruiz, Brother, not McCoy...

McCoy's rookie season was before the #WuhanPandemic...

Saints graded Ruiz high, saw he was there, and McCoy had shown rare, elite speed to get downfield and so they thought to move McCoy to Right Guard...

But Ruiz was unable to grasp the offensive calls, limited time because of the pandemic, so McCoy stayed at Center and Ruiz was tried at Guard...

RT (2) 71 - Ryan Ramcyzk, 67 - Landon Young (R6, P206)

Possible mauler for years to come at LT? Landon has a lot of potential. Good, quick feet to say he's such a big man. Also uses his leverage/hips to get low.

JP - in the few highlights I've seen over the past few months, Landon really looks like a pure LEFT TACKLE. I think he can hold his own on an island out there.

Thoughts?

Personally I would prefer Ruiz play at his natural position...center. He is undersized for a guard while McCoy is built to play guard. Play the best five to their strengths.
