Gardner at SS would have made this secondary last season...

And if Malcolm Jenkins has the opportunity to defend 10+ passes, that tells you offenses don't respect him...
CJG had 13 passes defensed.

Jenkins was far from elite last year, but he was decent. I personally like him as that extra linebacker on passing downs.

Re: 2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

I have to agree with Rugs and AG on Ruiz and McCoy.

I remember there having been talk about SP having been unsatisfied with how McCoy handled his responsibilities at center during his rookie season. This lead to the pick of Ruiz as he was a standout college center.

Ruiz was dealing with an injury during TC, which limited his exposure to being able to practice playing at center, and perhaps most importantly, he wasn't able to build a working bond with the QBs, which I'd assume is important for a center.

I don't know how much better McCoy did with his center's responsibilities this past season, but clearly Ruiz had problems reaching his potential during his rookie season.

It would probably be better if Ruiz moved to his natural position at center and McCoy moved over to guard where he had success at the college level.

I'm sure at some point or another I have had critical thoughts about something acquainted with Sean Payton, but there is honestly nothing that comes to mind at this time. There is nothing to be gained by holding onto criticisms so I don't even try, especially when it involves someone I like and respect.

So you can't come up with even one criticism?

I had to make sure that I wasn't on SR with how this thread has devolved into an argument over someone's views that are valid to them. Stop the finger pointing and have an intelligent discussion boys. In the words of Rodney King "why can't we all just get along?" Everyone has an opinion and if we disagree then maybe we can all do it without attacking fellow members character. Who Dat!

No I can't. Why should I? My life doesn't revolve around criticizing people I like and respect. What part of that simple concept can you not comprehend?

Geez!

I'd rather have the linebacker as much as the nickel is better suited to face 3WR sets...
