Perception is not reality
2020 Stats *******************
Jadeveon Clowney Titans 8GAMES 17 TOT SOLO12 AST 5 SCK 0
Marcus Davenport Saints **** 11GAMES 21 TOT SOLO12 AST 9 SCK 1.5

Clowney 31 games first 3 years 10.5 sacks
Davenport 37 games first 3 years 12 sacks

Clowney was going to bring the Saints to the Promised Land, Remember?
Imagine the screaming and moaning had the Saints signed Clowney and he got injured!

Those who complain about how often injured Davenport is ignore the same thing about Clowney.

The sad part is that those complaining about Davenport are ignoring the fact that he has dealt with injuries and they erroneously attribute his numbers to some sort of bad play. The guy jumps off the screen when healthy. He is well worth two high 2nd round picks (which is basically what the two extremely late 1st rounders were) and one later pick.

No, the sad part is people that want to make excuses for Davenport and try to justify spending 2 first round draft picks on what he has brought the team and ignore the fact that his performance clearly has not been worth 2 first round draft picks.

His performance has been hindered by injury and scheme, not lack of talent or ability. That isn't an "excuse". That is a fact. Whatever picks were used in his acquisition is nothing more than water under the bridge. They have no relevance moving forward. The fact is we used what was essentially two high 2nd round picks on him. These were not any sort of premium picks. Combined, however, we were able to turn them into a single premium pick and acquire what I expect to be an integral part of our defensive line for years to come.

But, haters gonna hate.

I love how you keep pushing that “high 2nd round” BS in order to try to make your point sound valid. Especially when you were pushing the idea to trade up for first round picks on other threads because all the numbers show first round picks have a significantly higher success rate.

But Liars gonna lie.

Yes, the higher the pick the greater odds of that player becoming a success. The 14th pick in the draft stands greater odds of being a success than the 27th or the 30th (the draft positions given up to move up). We basically traded two high 2nd rounders for a pick in the first half of the 1st round. Sounds good to me. Just what I have proposed, Boston.

By the way, I don't get the liar bit.

Re: 2021 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

You are being dishonest about it being two second round picks. If there is a difference between 14 and 25, There’s a difference between 25 and 38. Hence, your repeated lie about it being 2 high second rounders. Not to mention that there was no way to know the extra pick was going to be a low first rounder...an unexpected team injury here or there and that could have been a much higher pick. Hell, they finished 7-9 multiple times without serious injuries. You are using the hindsight knowledge of what the unknown-at-the-time extra pick ended up being to justify your incorrect opinion, but not allowing me to use my hindsight knowledge of his injuries to back up my correct one. You can’t have it both ways.

I don’t get the haters reference.

Stamina, Endurance, Ruggedness, Durability are as much a part of it athleticism...

Two firsts and a fifth are not on Davenport, just a first round pick, the three picks are on Sean...

And because of that move up in the draft, Sean had to overspend again to take McCoy when he could've been had with a first round pick...

And the subsequent picks could have been used on a CB2, another guard, a linebacker, et cetera...

The constant moving up has been more detrimental than beneficial, equally deterring to this team's success is Sean has tenure and is basically unaccountable...

This has been debunked more than once - The Saints and other teams have found success all over the draft board...
