This is not a Saints subject but it is to do with Rosters!

I was surprised to see the Pats have cut Cam Newton!!!

Not sure whats going on there! Is he carrying an injury?

I bet Cam is looking for a starting spot, and would rather be cut and see if he catches on elsewhere with a dire QB need (Houston ahem). No interest in seeing him with the Saints - if he didn't want to be a backup in NE, he won't want to be one here.

That was Charlie Weis' take. He actually said it was one of three things, your scenario, or they were pissed about last weekend with his whole testing deal, or they simply let him go because they didn't need him. He said your option made the most sense.
