It had nothing to do with Popeyes, but everything to do with the inability to train properly in the offseason. The broken arm he suffered in 2019 set him back again. The first offseason he had the chance to train properly was in 2020 and he came into camp the fittest of his career having dropped 15 pounds and much more defined.

A professional athlete recovering from serious injuries. Many professional athletes wouldn't have even been able to suit up by August, not to mention be in game shape after extended down time due to the recovery process.

A professional athlete who has access to scientific, medical, dietary support; state-of-the-art, non-weight-bearing aerobic exercise equipment and managers...

He was grossly over-weight and out-of-shape...

No crap. He was injured. Have you ever tried doing cardio work with a broken leg and a high ankle sprain? No doubt you'd come in over-weight and out of shape.
