Honest Question about Peat.
So, as Saints fans (GEAUX), I am always rooting for our players on the field. For example, I pull for, and believe that a guy like Peat can improve and be worthy of the contract he has (young folk don’t remember what faith us old timers had to have back in the 70’s). So, that being said, what facet of his game does he need to improve on most?
Run blocking or Pass blocking? |

Re: Honest Question about Peat.
Yeah I think that’s about right. He’s really good as a pulling guard getting to the second level. Ask him to pass block against good DT’s though and it’s a nightmare.

At the NFL level than run blocking, but I’m sure there are exceptions. Your point about pulling is interesting. Was he called for a lot of penalties do you know. |

Re: Honest Question about Peat.
Starting off the top, I will not address injuries, no one can control those. Otherwise IMO there are five or six people on every message board that target their ire on specific players for lack of new rings. Just like we have our favorites we also have our unfavors (isn't a word, don't care will use it anyways, call it a sniglet for those old enough to remember that meaning) the most popular recent unfavors are Peat and Anzalone. Usually these posters ignore the body of their work and instead call them "garbage", "useless", and other unflattering/demeaning descriptions for not making every play, or having a bad game against world class opponents. "why couldn't O-lineman stop Suh /Barrett?! Garbage player!" "why couldn't our LB shut down the best TE's in the game when almost no one in the game can?" If Peat was a turnstile how did we have the last four seasons? Hyperbole IMO.

You have to understand... fans are biased against Peat because he replaced Carl Nicks. Peat is nowhere as good as Nicks. |

Re: Honest Question about Peat.
Makes sense Chris. I have my own thoughts, but I wanted to hear other thoughts before I put my 2 cents in.

Re: Honest Question about Peat.
Peat was also a LT in college. I don’t recall off the top of my head if he ever even had any experience at guard in college. When we drafted him we planned on playing him at RT to be the eventual replacement for Zach Strief. He did so poorly there in OTA’s and training camp that he ended up at LG. He just simply doesn’t have the anchor or strength to play guard.
