There is no question about Davenport's abilities. That has not been an issue. It has been the injuries that have limited the playing time. When he's been in there he looks great. Injuries happen to EVERY player at one time or another.

He's played hurt. That turf toe was hindering at minimum. While his sack counts might not be high his pressures have been among the leaders. He has shown flashes of brilliance when healthy. There's a reason why his fifth year option was picked up. He's also been used more in run defense than in passing situations.

You want him to be better than Davenport, not another one. No matter how you want to slice it, he's underwhelmed since he's been here. That doesn't mean he can't still be a very good player, but he needs to stay healthy and produce. Cost and production hasn't added up and that's reality.
I think it's great you're an overly optimistic Saints fan Guido but sure do **** out some rainbows. |
