Everyone focused on Rankins, and I kept saying Onyemata was the better, more effective, and available defensive tackle...

Now light a fire under him and watch him start crushing quarterbacks as he did that time vs Cam Newton...

I’ve never understood the drivers for articles like this. If you want to write about how good a player is then do that, there is no need to frame it in controversy. Is the title intended to somehow trigger Onyemata?

The assumption that someone’s inability to recognize skill that another person sees is an intentional snub is pretty far fetched.

Some context. John Sigler is not only a Saints' Beat writer, but he's a fan. And it's annoying that national writers overlook smaller market players...

And you can probably safely bet some in the Saints' locker room asked why his contemporaries failed to acknowledge Onyemata, and that's what motivated the article...

I get that JP. When I look around me, I see a lot of anger and most people need no more fuel. I might have headlined and showcased Onyemata's skill sets and talent then closed with "and yet he still didn't make Touchdown Wire's top 11 interior DL list". :bng:

The writer of the article seldom, if ever, has a say in the title or headline of the article. Especially with a news service like USA Today. The title is intended to trigger clicks.

#100Percent

And while most writers don't like to be characterized this way, they're basically mercenaries told write this many words re: this, from this angle...

They're passionate writers with ethics - a rare minority now...

Cam was clearly concussed. That bastard didn’t know which way was up

Yes, we do now live in a clickbait world. Yet, when you get past this ruffling of your feathers, there are morsels and nuggets of valuable insights that shed more light than the national medal is willing to admit or even take the time to understand. And as WhoDat fans, it reinforces our belief in and understanding of the team as it currently stands. This, and many more stories (new QB competition, etc), is precisely why this year is particularly interesting.
