Look around the teams that are still standing ...
Bills (Diggs, Beasley, Sanders, Knox) Chiefs (Tyreek, Hardeman, Kelce, Pringle) Bengals (Chase, Higgins, Boyd, Uzomah) Tampa, GB, Niners (we all know who the playmakers are in the NFC) etc. All of these teams have legit #1,2, #3 WRs, and TEs across the board. In order to compete (deep playoff run), you need playmakers, route runners, game-changers. Discount Mike, we have none. Saints must upgrade (min 2/draft and FA) the WR corp this off-season. |

Re: 2022 NFL Draft: Draft Prospects, Scouting
Ruiz was drafted to be a piece of the offensive line, not the linchpin. He wasn't meant to be the only one playing 100% of the snaps for 17 games. Sure he looked like crap at times, but he was surrounded by crap for most of this season.

I'm not saying Ruiz hasn't looked like crap, but consider the circumstances. We all know the offensive line is a unit that has been described as only as strong as its weakest link. Looking back at Ruiz's first season in 2020 there was essentially no preseason work and most of the regular season was virtual except for gameday. Move to 2021 and only three of the 17 games had four of the five starters active at the same time. Five games of the 17 had three. None had all five. The coaches have to see something in him or he wouldn't be in there, right? That's the one thing that keeps me hoping there's promise. |

The Saints coaches don't need 3-5 years to evaluate a quality starter on the O line. CSP knows exactly what he has within the first two seasons & Ruiz won't be any different. Hopefully, he turns into a decent backup. The guy was simply a reach in the first round. |
