Indeed. I wonder what it would cost to get him?

I think it is that hard.

The WR group was sucking from day 1. With Jameis, who was throwing catchable balls, certainly not inept, and didn't have an injured finger. Our inability to have a meaningful passing game has been present regardless of who is throwing.

Give me Hill, and solid and healthy oline, and a few WRs who understand in the NFL you have to play with nuance. I'm not sure we have anybody on the roster who understands that. At least Calloway is trying. Smith sure isn't. And we need a freaking TE.

If Thomas is back next year I don't think the starting 3 is back. Thomas and Calloway with Harris

Problem is Harris is a FA aswell and I can see him getting a offer the Saints can't match. 21 teams have over 20ml in free space. Going to be the same with Armstead,Williams

The space in 2022 doesn't matter much. Contracts can be backloaded easily.

Speaking of prospects for WRs, has anyone heard anything about Thomas’ status? Is he resting, is he rehabbing, is another procedure coming? Are we gonna find out a week before camp starts that he’s still not healthy?

Boston, that's a good question. Haven't read much on his rehab/ progress as of late.

Is it even remotely possible that the Saints' front office has not been nearly as successful in properly assessing talent for the WR room as other positions? If so, does the WR coach have any input? We know who this is and all think he's a good coach... or is he? Ireland's addition has been invaluable. So why has he failed us at getting us proper WRs? As a comparison, who are the New England WRs? I can't name one off the top of my head. Are they pass catchers, decent blockers, and route runners? Methinks more than ours are, even with our QB situation.

I can't prove it of course. I think management knows what we have. I don't think we have a coaching problem. Sean is not going to stand at the podium and reveal what I think he already knows and knew before the season started: Our WR room is optimistically borderline decent.

That was WITH MT as the 1. Because of that we were going to be a run first offense. But we had MT. MT maybe brings one of these guys along...Calloway maybe. I think we whiffed on Smith, but it happens. That guy is not the answer...for anything. I still think losing Thomas hurt this team a LOT more than most probably do. Along with 1 talent he brought fire on Offense. We are loaded with that on Defense.

And neither is Trautman the answer at TE. I'm off that dude like JP is off on Armstead. Cut bait on that fool. Armstead may be injury prone, but nobody is better than he is when he's 75% even. Trautman will always be a tease. He hurt his knee cause he don't know how to fall. He flops to the ground. If he ever does figure it out he will be one of those guys who can't suit up because he's hurt for some thing or other.

I think they sold us snake oil. They kinda had no choice. Hard decisions had to be made. Poor Jameis. He was playing the hand he was dealt, playing within the system...nobody would catch the damn ball...or get open. Imagine if they had...

Pulling for them to turn it around of course. I just don't think we have enough talent at WR, everything else notwithstanding.
