This is a really crappy comment. WhoDat!656 can't have an opinion without ridicule? You know it's subjective on who's the best QB for us, right? Can't you just offer your OPINION (yes, it's only your opinion, it's not fact) instead of calling him(or her?) out? And yes, at the beginning of last season SP chose Winston, I haven't seen anything to say that he will again.

Chill, it was a light-hearted jab while agreeing with Major's point. Note the smilie and wink.

Yes, it is a crappy comment. And no, he can't. Thank you for speaking up. I encourage others to do the same.

Maybe that's how you meant it but that's not the way it came across. I see this argument from you often. Of course unless someone on here is a hall of fame HC in disguise SP and/or Loomis is a better evaluator of the situation than ANYONE on this board but the purpose of this board is for us fans to talk about issues and debate. So when someone disagrees with your opinion you default to "coach knows best" does it really add anything worthwhile to the conversation?

From the above linked free article:

Upgrade Options

There's a premium of talent that is set to hit the open market when the new season rolls around. How New Orleans attacks this could depend largely on how they address the quarterback position. If they were to trade for someone like Russell Wilson and absorb a high cap hit, then they'd need to ensure they push some money to make way for acquiring at least one receiver.

It's not a given, but bringing back someone like Jameis Winston could allow them to be a bigger spender in free agency. Premiere options to upgrade the group include the likes of Davante Adams, Odell Beckham Jr., Chris Godwin, Mike Williams, and Allen Robinson.

The other tier options would be Christian Kirk, Jamison Crowder, Will Fuller, Russell Gage, Michael Gallup, Zay Jones, Byron Pringle, Kalif Raymond, and Cedrick Wilson Jr.. Veterans like Emmanuel Sanders and A.J. Green would likely be a yearly rental.

The draft also has some plentiful options, as New Orleans could be in a prime position if they hold firm with their 18th pick. Jameson Williams (Alabama), who is going to be coming back from an ACL tear, was a rising prospect. His draft stock is going to be something to watch. Garrett Wilson (Ohio State), Chris Olave (Ohio State), Jahan Dotson (Penn State), and Treylon Burks (Arkansas) are some of the top names to watch leading up to the draft, and we'll look at those in depth as we get closer.

That's just my opinion and it appears to have been Major_K's, as well. :D  But, it's actually a really good point that Major made. Did you see anything that would change Payton's mind about his selection of Winston as the starter over anyone that is currently on the roster?

Saints Rumors: NOLA ‘would make sense’ as landing spot for Derek Carr

by Leigh Oleszczak

Saints rumors are going to revolve heavily around the quarterback position this offseason and the latest name to be linked to New Orleans is current Raiders quarterback, Derek Carr.

According to Ian Rapoport, Carr’s future with the Raiders depends on whoever is hired as the next head coach. Jon Gruden resigned midway through the 2021 season due to leaked emails yet the Raiders persevered and find themselves in the playoffs with an interim head coach.

Carr has played well this season despite all of the drama going in Las Vegas, throwing for 4,804 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He has his ups and downs, but what quarterback doesn’t? He’d easily be an upgrade over any of the quarterbacks on the Saints’ roster.

Rapoport finished his article by mentioning the Saints as a potential destination for Carr:

"Among the teams who would make sense for Carr are the Saints, Texans and perhaps the Colts, should they decide to move on from Carson Wentz. If Carr is, in fact, available, he will likely garner more interest than that."

Read the rest here ...

I’m not vehemently opposed to Carr, but the fact that the author said he’d easily be an upgrade over anybody on the roster is a huge stretch. Jameis Winston is a more talented QB than Derek Carr. Winston went #1 overall for a reason. He’s now in the best situation he’s ever been in. I don’t blame him for not being able to overcome a ****ty organization like the Bucs. Only a Tom Brady could change that around. He’s got stability here. We need to retain continuity. It’s not time to blow it up just yet.

Winston > Carr

And y’all leave Guido alone man. He’s really a nice guy. Very caring. Very understanding. It’s difficult to read intent through the internet. Sarcasm can be mistaken for other things. Let’s just talk football. We got a while to go before anything worthwhile happens for our Saints.
