Saints cut Keith Kirkwood but activate Kevin White tonight. I’m having a hard time remembering White catching a pass.
Let me ask Alexa.

He's caught two less than Kirkwood this season. Kirkwood had two.

Here we go, cmike. White plays special teams and Kirkwood doesn't.

Not saying it's a good idea, but it's out there. Trade for Elijah Moore before the deadline? We have the cap room.

I hope you I’ve read this incorrectly. White has caught 1 pass in a Saint uniform.
He better be Courtney Roby on special teams.

It depends what we trade for him. We need to get younger and more under the cap and he is young and affordable. But we need draft picks to address positions that are not wide receiver, so we don't need to be trading 1st or 2nd round picks for him, and I doubt they would take a 3rd rounder. What could make sense because the Jets have a way better record than us and are more legit contenders and have more cap space is to trade a more costly older win now player for Moore who would be a more future oriented player. Like we could trade Jordan or Davis if they want to go there, or a package involving Kamara or one of the safeties. But if the Jets would take a 3rd round pick or later I would consider that too. We could also consider trading Davenport for him because we shouldn't resign Davenport and Davenport is nearer to free agency I believe. We could also trade them Dalton or Winston if they were interested, I think both are better than Flacco. We could pay most of Winstons salary.

Possibly all this RPO offense trend in college is leading to fewer NFL quality RBs?

Any opinions on David Johnson?

It's leading to potential RB's becoming QB's, instead.

The Saints were interested in signing him in the preseason, but couldn't come to terms. I suppose he finally realized after ten weeks that he wasn't worth as much as he had hoped. He had to have been getting antsy about not being rostered for enough games to gain a credited year toward his benefits.

I hope he brings some kind of spark to this team.

Fast forwarding to the 2023 roster ...

It's time for some upgrades at the RB position.

Ingram is about washed & Washington isn't going to cut it. Then there is the upcoming suspension for AK.

And honestly, I'd allow Davenport to walk (UFA) in 2023.

Agree on all.

Our best years our RBs were stacked with PT, Bush, Sproles, Ivory,….we haven’t had an infusion for a while.

If Davenport doesn't have a comparable market, then resign him.

I want to see continued investment into the O and D lines.

And I would L O V E to get a player like Patrick Ricard on our offense.

And therein lies the problem. We have not had a trustworthy running back tandem since Mark Ingram left. Unfortunately, he's not the same player that he was. We definitely need a new infusion of some talented young running backs. We need a Bruiser to go with AK.

I hated that Murray was poached off the practice squad. He was our best option but he's gone now and I don't blame him at all for taking a better contract and better chance at being on the field.

The Outlook is pretty freaking bleak at the moment! I have no faith in this coaching staff and possibly even management to correct this problem. Oh God, please don't let Jeff Ireland go to the Chargers with Sean Payton. We need the picks we would get for him, but on the downside he will probably poach a lot of our coaches. It's kind of a mixed blessing.

Those same coaches were fine under Payton. Did they forget how to coach under Allen?

However, Carmichael certainly makes questionable calls on early downs.

Apparently, they did forget how to coach. Sometimes it's inspiration that the head coach offers to motivate both his coaches and players. Dennis Allen does not have that motivator type personality. He is more of an ex's and O's kind of guy who belongs in a back corner somewhere.

Getting McCoy back could be a huge help in our run for the playoffs down the stretch here.

Speaking of Offensive Line. Last year's "starting 5" played a total of 22 snaps together.

Wow! That's more games played together than this year. We may not be finished with the season but our season is finished.

NT (1) 99 - Shy Tuttle (RFA 2022)

DT (3) 93 - David Onyemata, 97 - Malcolm Roach (RFC 2022), 69 - Kentavius Street (FA 2022)

Here ...

The defensive line has somewhat regressed in 2022. Onyemata is approaching 30 and hasn't developed into a pass-rushing threat. Fits as a 1-tech more than 3 tech.

The Saints need to find better depth at left defensive tackle - the run defense has been average all season.

Side note - it will be interesting to see what happens (UFA) with Davenport in 2023.

We are already paying an often-injured unperforming player with Mike Thomas. No need to just have more players collecting checks from the hot tub. It's too full as it is.

I'll give you often-injured, but underperforming ... no way. He single handedly beat the Falcons in week one and led the team in catches in week two while scoring the lone touchdown. When he plays he absolutely performs.
