Lovie Smith is a great hire. I didn’t understand why he had to go coach in college instead of getting another head coaching job after he was let go in Chicago. I actually didn’t know he was even back in the league. I expect the Texans to have a good defense now.

He was the Texans associate HC and DC this past season. It probably flew under the radar because the Texans were so dismal overall. They gave up the second most yards in the league last season.

He was the HC in Tampa for two seasons after being let go by the Bears.

O-Line regressed big time under Nugent so that’s not a surprise. Forget about the street free agents brought in to start, I’m talking the starters. Ramczyk especially regressed. Ruiz constantly looked lost out there. Bad coaching.

Allen is cleaning house with the coaches huh? New ideas, new coaches with a different perspective are needed and necessary.

Good for him.

I'd like to see Pete Carmichael remain as OC, considering injuries and such, he's been a steady force and would like to see what he'd offer without Sean in the room...

If there are any assistants who are vulnerable, Receivers coach Curtis Johnson and Offensive Line coach Brendan Nugent helmed underwhelming units last year...

In particular, the poor development, growth of Ruiz, Calloway really stood out and as DA was already in the room, guess the call will be made if coaching was an issue...

Now we need to hear that Taysom Hill, Andrus Peat, Carli Ruiz, and Michael Thomas will not be with the roster. Then we are really cleaning house.

Curtis Johnson is the only one that I'll be a little sad to see go. I am really excited that we are making a change at OL coach. Hopefully the next one can tap into the potential that is there.

Carmichael takes over as O Analyst.
Marrone for Nugent.
They'll both add experience to the OC's approach.

Dan Dalrymple. Maybe it's me but most of us at this site have complained about the rash of untimely injuries. Does that fall on Dan?

Hard to say, sometimes injuries are just because of freak stuff, bad luck. But if you see the same kind of injuries on a lot of players on a team it might be down to the strenght and conditioning.

I had one of my playing years over here when we had a boatload of shoulder injuries on the team. After the season the analysis was that there had been way to much OH pressen and shoulder exercises during the off season and during the season which caused players to break down. That offseason the program changed and the problem disapeared.
The Saints have had quite a history with groin and lover stomach injuries and it will be interesting to see iw that changes with a new SAC coach.

That's the Nugent replacement with Marrone move that I was hoping for early yesterday. It makes too much sense given Ruiz' lack of development. Strief said Ruiz very talented and works his butt off but didn't improve as much as hoped. THAT's on the coach.

This is an example of the talk I was referring to, TheOak, about clearing out players. There are others as well saying the same. They are the ones not considering the cap implications. I agree with you 100% that it doesn't make sense.

Yes, the one where he pretty much blasted you. This is your passive-aggressive way of "getting him back"...

You and everyone else can see he's not interested in your thoughts and yet you persist. A day later and you're STILL trying to get the last word, albeit via a separate comment from a different user.

Why did you put his username in Bold? You sick little :censored:

I know exactly who (and what) you are speedo (NPD). And by the way, you're on record here stating the cap doesn't matter. Which is a stupid thing to say, unless you're a clueless fanboy. Oh yeah you ARE a clueless fanboy.

Definitely falls in the range of the head trainer; may be that it seems unfair to unload the rash of injuries on him, but may also be he's failed to assess why there are so many...

Can see a situation where Dennis Allen asked him why he thought there were so many injuries and Dalrymple failed to take that next step to record, track the injuries for analysis...

While that statement is pure speculation, an example, trying to make a point that maybe Allen wants to see an evolving trainer's program, and the current one is stagnant...

Still believe Carmichael should remain the offensive coordinator, maybe take on QB Coach again to develop Taysom, the ND kid, or a new draft pick...

Marrone definitely shown he can get it done as Oline coach - looks to be a slam-dunk hire; Curtis may have grown too comfortable or just needs a reset, but WRs were awful...

Candidate for the Saints' DC job Aubrey Pleasant; not always pleasant for players about his coaching style...

Circling back to KRIS RICHARD.

He’s had serious success with Seattle (LOB), Dallas (Marinelli got more praise but it was KR) and most recently in New Orleans as secondary coach .

Who else is more qualified to lead a defense? Players absolutely love his coaching style & he’s well respected around the league.

I saw a good point out on Saints Twitter. How (or why) are they hiring all of these offensive assistants without an OC hire yet?

Could they already have someone in mind?

Carmichael transitioning to a lesser role. We're going to get a fresh set of eyes that will not have loyalty to any one player. Smart.

That stuff will work for certain players and not at all for others. The good coaches figure out what works for each individual player and tailor their approach accordingly.

Agreed. But it's nice to know he has that passion and he's not afraid to keep a high profile rookie like Okudah grounded so he can be a better person, player...

Certainly have to respect the view of a former, longtime NFL CEO.

Just not from the Raiders franchise....

That would point to Matt Corral. Big time RPO-based offense at Ole Miss last year. I definitely would not take any of the QB’s at 18 but the 2nd round? Sure.

National Scouts have discounted the entire 2022 QB draft class as “poor”.

Watch a STUD QB emerge from the group 🤪.

Hagan and I discussed this directly a couple of times years ago; we felt the discussions all of us had here were more informed, deliberative than most draft rooms...

Many of the so-called scouts in the NFL are nothing more than nepotism hires and despite updated software, most have little to no scouting assessment skills...
