He went on to say that even when he is back at 100, that won’t stop the Saints from going out and seeking additional help (WR) in Free Agency and subsequent draft. We shall see. |

From everything Thomas is saying he wants to return and ball for the Saints. From everything the Saints are saying they want him back and balling for the Saints. From everything the salary cap says is that there's no way you take a huge cap hit by getting rid of perhaps your top asset when you need to do just the opposite. The Saints can clear around $10 million from the 2022 cap with a simple restructure (no approval of the player required) of his $15.35 million base salary and $450K in 2022 bonuses. All that is required is that he remains on the roster. |
