Saints 2022 Cap Restructure Potential
The Saints are currently setting at about $79 million over the projected 2022 cap. The team should begin making moves to alleviate that deficit soon.
Here is a table on Over the Cap that's shows the cap space of each team and the Restructure Potential of each team. It includes both Simple and Maximum Restructures. From the above link: A simple restructure converts payments into prorated signing bonuses within the confines of the remainder of the contract. Teams typically have the ability to unilaterally execute simple restructures without any action necessary from the player. A maximum restructure increases the amount of cap space via conversion into prorated signing bonuses by either extending the contract or by adding void years to a contract, years that do not extend the contract but are only used as placeholders for the proration. Maximum restructures are typically considered a renegotiation of the contract that requires the player's consent to execute. The Saints currently have $101,417,471 in simple restructure available which would give them about $21.6 million in available cap space. I follow these restructures every year and am planning on posting them here as I see them happen. |
