Have you considered they didn't want any of those players you mentioned? Just because you, or some so-called draft expert, like a player doesn't mean the team has any desire, at all for any number of reasons, to draft that player.

Just saying.

Olave, by the Saints brass and mostly by consensus, has the highest floor of the top WR's in the draft. Clearly we put a premium on getting the surest thing we could at WR. So in a way we did draft based on need with the move up for Olave - which you can't blame the Saints for, based on the historically low production we had at that position in 2021.

Maybe so, but that’s not the point. Neither he or Olave would have been available at 16. That’s why both Det and we moved up. Otherwise at 16 we are drafting a WR with a perceived much lower ceiling.

That's all you are doing is "JUST SAYING" and I'm responding to you speaking on behalf of the organization. You said the reasons I replied if your trading away picks for what they got IMO that wasn't a win now move have you considered your words right

Who cares Olave doesn't equal SB. ANY of those WRs taken in the first would have just fine.

That was the expected scenario; then, as DA stated "nothing surprises me in the NFL draft"; WRs started moving earlier than expected...

S Kyle Hamilton fell out the Top 10, and Ravens were rumored to take Penning that early - hooray for our team...

Malik Willis was a supposed Top 12 pick; SEA surprised and focused on that terrible offensive line with Cross, safe, but smart move...

So Saints made the jump on their top rated WR with pretty good trade value per the Rich Hill trade chart - modern day version of Jimmy Johnson innovation...

Then, Jordan Davis jumped into the Top 15 despite some teams having reservations about his discipline...

Chargers getting Justin Herbert, already a Top 5 QB, some protection at G to protect their greatest asset...

And Penning conveniently fell to us at 19; and we got one big, nasty bully; and as I said in previous post (trade chart), we got our two guys, just not as we expected...

If the Saints are in win NOW mode as most of you claim justifying the picks with that notion then these 2 picks should be plug n play impact players day 1 and if they aren't we could have went a different route and grabbed other needs or at least better players for those needs

The acquisition of players able to help us wiN"IMMEDIATELY" did not have to come with us giving up 2 middle round picks for it agree or disagree I stand on it.

Fine for who? Perhaps for you, but apparently not for them. They put far more hours into this process than any of us. I trust they have a better idea of what is best for them than any of us.
