Return a phone call, let people know the status of your ankle/rehab and what not. Mrs. Benson is paying you a TON of money.

But who knows what's inside the minds of star athletes :smokin:.

I get what you're saying but who knows what actually went down - on either side!

But again, as a fan, I want to see him come back and kill it. I'll call myself cautiously optimistic.

Here's a recap:
- Back to back 1,00yd seasons with Drew Brees.
- September 2020 sprains ankle, misses four games
- Hamstring before he can return, misses two more games
- Plays six games, zero TDs
- Ankle causes him to miss the remainder of the regular season
- To his credit, gutted out two playoff games on a bad ankle (5 rec 1 TD)
- Surgery delayed until June, misses entire 2021 season

So here we are. A top 5 compensated WR coming off ankle surgery who hasn't played a game since January of 2021.

You're damned right I want to see how he moves on that ankle.

I'm trying to get this straight. So is it that you have doubts that the surgery will be a success? He hasn't played a game since January of 2021 because of an ankle injury. Players have surgeries all the time now and come back successfully. What reason is there to doubt that this would be the case with Thomas?

What does the fact that he's a "top 5 compensated WR" have to do with recovering from ankle surgery? I am genuinely confused as to what his contract terms have to do with any of this.

You seem to be upset about the process more so than concerned about the success of a surgery. I suppose I can understand that.

It is very unfortunate everything that has happened with Michael Thomas during the past two years, but nothing can be done about that now, time to move on. What I think we are all hoping to see is no lingering effects from the injuries, and that a positive attitude is maintained.

Okay, I get this. That wasn't a good optic, for sure. But none of this creates any specific doubt that he can return to form after what is a fairly routine ankle surgery.

I really think the process bothers people more than a real concern over the ultimate recovery.

Guido, I'm sorry you're having trouble processing or accepting my view so out of respect I'll try one more time.

People have surgeries all the time and DON'T come back the same. I personally want to see how his ankle and potentially his hamstring hold up.

If I'm paying someone top 5 money to a key player that had surgery and hasn't played in a year, yes, I'm concerned about how well he comes back and ultimately performs.

Infer what you want but my comments and opinions are pretty clear.

I guess understand your concern. I just don't see as much of issue with a full recovery. Reconstructing a joint might be one thing, but what he had is basically Tommy John with tendons in the ankle from my understanding. Let's just say that I am a bit more than cautiously optimistic.

We should know soon, however.

Too bad Thomas doesn't document his recovery via Twitter as well as Winston. :D It may ease a few more minds.

I look at this roster now and we've filled a lot of the holes that we had. I think if we get good QB play we could shock the world and get a Lombardi.

Coach Dennis Allen hasn't won a game yet as HC in New Orleans but I love the aggressive approach so far this off-season.

However, a contract can be structured in a way for him to "save face" with a $20 million average that is realistically far less with incentives and such. With the way the cap is about to explode a backloaded deal should be very manageable.

All signs point to Jacksonville and that crazy Christian Kirk contract this off-season.

Yeah, he got $18 million per. And then you had Tyreek Hill ($30 million) and Davante Adams ($28 million). The article says that $20 million would be tied for 6th highest receiver number in the NFL.

As long as the cap keeps rising that CBA mandated percentage (48% to 48.8%) of revenues going to players has to go somewhere. We may be able to get him for less if the market slows now, but in the long run it may be best to bite the bullet because $20 million average may become a bargain.

We resigned 3Quan, Lil Jordan and Deonte.

There are 10 WRs on the roster now.

I'd love to have Jarvis - I think he could be the missing piece.

There's not a huge cap hit for cutting these younger players. But I just don't see us shelling out a ton of money for a 3rd WR unless something drastic happens.

I'm probably wrong.

Honestly, I didn't think the Saints had any shot at getting Mathieu.

I'm just not as confident as most when it comes to our supporting cast at WR.

I hope the Saints find a way to make it work with Landry. Adding one more proven chain mover, playmaker, route runner won't hurt one bit.

Landry won't take hometown discount is the issue... So be it .

Let's see how this plays out.

All great points.

Wonder if Landry shares the "home team" emotion Tyrann is feeling...

Saints seem to have appx $18MM in cap space unless I'm reading this wrong

Taking off my homer glasses for a minute our #1 is QB coming off ACL surgery, #1 WR from ankle surgery/missing an entire year, #1 RB facing suspension, two new starting safeties, a rookie LT, oft-injured LG and a RG who’s not exactly lived up to expectations.

I’m not saying we can’t be a great team, there’s just more “hurdles” than MT’s ankle…

Don't disagree at all. However, these aren't high school players . They are getting paid, some of them high $. These are professionals with pride , presumably. Brees once had a bum shoulder as a new Saint.

No doubt it’s all a matter of perspective. With all the crap the team faced last year they still finished with a winning record.

I like what the Saints are doing this off season! I agree they will probably cut White no matter what! I also believe that we should not dumb down the offense to keep Winston out of trouble! He needs to produce and be the team leader, not an average QB! He needs to sink or swim with the playbook the team wants! I’m really looking forward to this season!!!

If he comes in with the right price and attitude, I’d take Julio Jones on a one year deal. Imagine Olave learning from him and CGM. Julio as #3 or 4 guy would make me happy. I think he will be cheaper than Jarvis. Plus it will piss the Falcons off when we kick their butts with Julio.

Me and him down by the schoolyard!

Julio looked like a shell of himself last season with the Titans. He started 10 games and averaged only three catches per game with one TD. His yardage per reception and yards per target were also career lows. He really didn't look that much better in 2020.

The numbers Julio put up last year as the third WR on Tenn surpassed what the third WR on the Saints had. That’s why I said as the saints 3 or 4 receiver. He was hurt last year. So, you have no doubt Michael Thomas can come back from a long injury but Julio Jones can’t? Plus the experience Julio has to pass on to Olave is valuable IMO. I also mentioned the price being right. I think his price will be lower than Landry’s. That savings could help elsewhere. Just my thoughts. Not trying to argue with you.
