The Rams at their peak had Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Odell Beckham. That's without mentioning Van Jefferson. That's three #1's. Now they have Kupp and Allen Robinson. Still two #1 options. The Bengals had Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd. The year before you had Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown vs Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, and Travis Kelce. That receiver/tight end room has to go crazy to compete. In truth, we still need one more moving piece like Odell Beckham or Jarvis Landry to seal the deal. It gives you the depth to make it through injuries and also makes you close to unstoppable when everybody is fully healthy because most teams don't have a good enough DB room to handle all that. However...we do. |

Re: Jarvis Landry Signing With Saints
This is kind of how I see it too. Between Callaway, Smith, White, Harris, Lil Jordan and the undrafted FAs we’ve signed I feel confident they can come up with players that will be viable 3rd, 4th and 5th options without taking on a Landry sized contract. I’d almost rather see that money used on D line depth or maybe Ebron as TE help or even a bet RB like Lindsay to help when Kamara misses games.

I think Jarvis is imperative and without checking dead money, would think we'd cut 2-3 WRs to make room for him. Easop, White, Merritt, Baker.... all candidates to be cut |

Enough of the development guys. Brees is long gone. You need legit threats 1-3 in the NFL. |

I wonder how many games DA will win by following a less predictable gameplan and stubbornness. |

Re: Jarvis Landry Signing With Saints
The point you are missing is that they didn't want just ANY WR, they wanted THAT WR and according to Loomis himself they didn't feel he would be there at #16 or #19. They may have been able to get him at #12 or #13, but that would require those teams being willing to move down. It appears #11 was their only shot where they felt confident they could get him. Loomis said today that there were other WR's that they liked, but Olave was the one that they wanted above all for several reasons. If Washington wasn't willing to make the trade from #11 they would have had to settle for what they felt was less.

Re: Jarvis Landry Signing With Saints
If nobody else signs we'll have Thomas, Olave, Smith/Callaway. Plus Deonte Harris, who showed last season that he can play receiver as well. Not to mention Kawaan Baker from the practice squad who I hope gets another shot in camp this season. And we have UDFA to check out.
Trequan and Callaway as number three receivers should be very different than when they were trying to play number one receiver. My bigger concern is at the TE position. |
