Exactly! I was wondering the same right away. That was on Pete Carmichael. Payton would have been in his ear letting him know the circumstances. There was more than time enough for another to the sideline to make the kick shorter and use more clock.

I didn't know what they had called the previous play, especially since Landry got up and ran another ten yards. Not even sure where they spotted it. The announcers in the booth didn't seem to know either.
There was another play where it was 3rd and 1, and then they changed it to 1st and 10 as the ball was about to be snapped. |

Intentional grounding should’ve never been called. The rule emphasizes the qb must be in danger of being sacked.
