Everything Must Go?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; While the idea of Chubb is enticing, we can’t afford it financially or draft capital wise. We’re in a pickle. First and foremost, we need direction of where we’re headed as a franchise....

I think we have to recognize this season isn’t over.

TB 3-4
ATL 3-4
CAR 2-5
NO 2-5

We just gotta get healthy and go on a run. We can win this division. Nobody stands out. We're likely still the most talented. I think we need to consider making a move to improve this roster because it’s loaded and we can win with it.

I said before the Az game we were one game out of first and supposed to get healthier. If 7-9 seahawks made it to the playoffs and beat us in the playoffs then we could do the same.

We can win this division. We can dominate this division. We can have a streak for the ages full of much glory and honor in this division this year. But thats because its a weak division. When we get to the playoffs and face dallas, philly, bills, kc etc we will get steamrolled.

The Panthers and Falcons are both rebuilding. They both traded key players to give themselves more picks yet they are both in superior positions to us. One has more wins, the other has the same record but beat us head to head. We can also still win this division while rebuilding. The Panthers traded CMC and beat the Bucs with an interim coach. We could trade Kamara or Thomas and beat the Bucs with an interim coach too.

Any team can compete in this division this year. But if we hope to compete in the future we cant afford to let our rivals fix their cap issues and add draft picks while we do nothing. A rebuild can actually make us better by showing there is accounability not just bailouts.

Woe be us!

I swear, if our players had your positive mental attitude we'd never win more than two or three games.

Your attitude is negative. You think if we change coaches midseason and trade away a star or two we can't compete and will be throwing away the season. I believe in the underdogs on the team and think that a little accountability and optimism will light a fire under them. Just look at Carolina! They got rid of a lousy coach, did the right thing long term in unloading a star who was costly and prone to injury, and now they just won the game of the year for them. Honestly, Carolina is in the drivers seat in this division although they are 1 game back. The are the only team that is undefeated within the division and they won both games by over 7 points. Their record is a product of a tough schedule so far outside the division that will get easier as they go. I believe this team can win too and that doing the right thing and making hard choices to reduce our 2023+ salary cap load and add draft picks wont make us worse, it will make us better. Adding an OBJ or whatever and bloating the 2023 cap even further won't make us contenders, it will be part of the problem. We are too old, too entitled, with too many contended vets brought on from other teams to put us over the top but in reality just going through the motions. The way to win this division is to be the young hungry underdog team not to double down on the formula that has put us in last place in the division.

Sorry. I stopped reading your drivel. Same old crap over and over and over and over again.

That's alright I don't respect you either.

We both made predictions on the Saints record before this season and I guess at the end we will see whose was closer.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I totally respect your ability to construct these expansive dissertations that nine of ten people no longer even read.

You confuse me with someone who cares about predictions. I make the same prediction every year. I only care about the game at hand.
