Well, is it down to the Broncos and their very late 1st rounder or back to Fox and nothing for the Saints? It's sounding more and more like Payton has no interest in the other jobs.

We can still dance for draft picks next year.
This leak is more likely a means to try to water down trade compensation. This version of SP psyops is fascinating.

Yes, there's always next year if it comes down to that. But, according to everyone supposedly "in the know", trade compensation was already basically agreed upon before Denver, or any other team, was even given permission to speak to Payton. Probably nothing left to do but cross some t's and dot some i's.

Precisely why Saints need/must maximize this asset with THE most picks possible/ever for a SB winning coach. It leaves a bit of bad taste hearing/seeing SP lobbying on potential draft compensation. Who is he now to intertwine himself when HE made the choice to exit the way he did and leave this franchise in the shape it was left. Yes, DA isn't who we thought he should be. Still doesn't make it right for SP to handcuff the Saints even more with his trade compensation meddling. Loomis must focus strictly on the Saints. Friendship be damned as it's all business. If he was instrumental in the Davis trade with the Pelicans, he understands what to do. So do it right, Loomis

Sorry, Smash, but I must have missed where Payton has lobbied on potential draft compensation. When and where was that? He mentioned what Loomis had already shared with others about compensation (one mid to late round 1st plus) but I haven't seen anything else.

The Davis trade was completely different in that the player had to go where traded. He didn't have the choice. In the case of Payton, he makes the decision where he wants to go.

The continued leaks and reporting with his new best friend in L.A., Colin Cowturd. Sitting back and truly listening , body language , seeing the tell, understanding , keeping your eyes wide open. It's all happening before our very eyes.

All he said in that whole interview about compensation was what was already out there from Loomis and other sources. He simply confirmed it by telling Cowherd that Loomis told him he was telling the inquiring teams that it would take a 1st rounder plus other picks. I still don't understand how that is lobbying? Compensation remains entirely between the Saints and their individual trading partner. Payton has no affect on that whatsoever.

Body language says it all.

SP does NOT decide how big the/his trade value is, despite his veiled lobbying. He DOES decide if and where he wants to continue his coaching career, as he tried we now know previously with Miami. With this track record in mind, it wouldn't be shocking if we were to find out this same thing may have happened even before the Miami scandal. Gail Benson needs to put her foot down and request Miami's now taken by RG 2023 #1 draft pick as compensation for the tampering.
