Brees arm was the problem the last 2 years, that allowed D's to shorten up the box. Short to mids had to be defended.

Yup. Seeing the same thing with Dalton out there. We need some sort of threat at QB or Vince Lombardi himself wouldn't help.

Kind of where I stand.

It's where I stand as well.

There's a reason Carmichael never left for another gig. He isn't strong enough on his own. Payton was the vocal leader, holding everyone accountable. Pete is the demure figure in the background scheming brilliant plays.

It became obvious (and in hindsight) that Pete wasn't going to be as successful without the leadership of Sean Payton.

So yeah, don't knock the guy for being retained. He's the architect of one of the most successful offensive systems. One we desperately need to keep intact.

Now the team needs to bring in a younger version of Pete to learn, emulate and eventually evolve the system under Pete's tutelage.

Watching the Jags and Chiefs call plays yesterday made me realize more than ever there's A LOT of improvement that needs to be made to our offensive approach. We have quite a ways to go to be competent.

How do we know he was scheming plays? He didn’t call plays. We don’t know if he designed them. This was a true season seeing what he can do without Payton, and it was dog ****. If Pete comes back I’m taking a year off from the Saints.

Some folks here, and particularly here for some reason would defend anything the Saints do, they’d praise bringing jamarcus russell in.

My two cents:
Pete had all the time in the world to ride right seat and see learn how the Saints were supposed to roll while coaching with SP. After all of that time, he finally got his chance to get behind the wheel. But instead of taking the wheel and rolling out, his play calling seems timid and inept. It's baffling how he was along for the ride all of those years and not able to make the transition to effectively drive the scoring!

This makes me kind of dubious about what he'll do differently in 2023.

Mindset.

“Some” are simply ok with average, mediocrity.

Mindset.

Some want excellence as much as anyone else but choose not to constantly spend their time *****ing and moaning about things out of their control.
