Lol.

What’s crazy is that he actually CONTRIBUTES in the red zone when
he has seen the field but these dumb a** coaches kept him inactive
for almost a month.

For a team that has struggled ALL SEASON in the R/Z, makes no sense.

Do you think that type of decision making would fly in
Philly, San Fran, Dallas (pains me to mention them) MIA or KC?

The lack of quality coaching has cost this team in 2023 season.

Saints better start scouting RBs in the 2024 draft. This guy won't be able to help you long term at the position. He's brittle.

Questionable draft pick.

I wonder where the list of "needs" are for tackle in the 2024 draft?

Coaches aren't even mentioning Trevor Penning after the benching, specifically OL coach Doug Marrone. Not sure what's going on @ practice but apparently he's not improving.

0 offensive snaps last 3 games.

It could be coaching (ranked bottom tier in run & pass blocking) however I have my doubts about the former 1st rounder.

Re: The 2023 JeanPierre Saints Roster Depth Chart Thread

They were talking the struggles of offensive lines across the entire league a little earlier today on NFL Radio. Sacks are trending to blow away the league record this season. Among the factors that were given are the simplistic offenses being run across college teams everywhere. They are not being asked to hold blocks with the spread/West Coast and their tendency to get the ball out so fast. Almost no teams have the QB under center anymore. Limited practice time is also a factor. The NCAA is now limiting all football related activities to 20 hours per week. That not only includes actual practices, but also other workouts, meeting times and even game day activities including the game itself. Offensive linemen are coming into the league less developed than ever before in the history of the NFL. This not only means delaying the development of the players once they get into the NFL, but also making the selection process more difficult when it comes to the draft with the evaluation of the players.

Interesting points made in the show.

This is something I believe we've discussed in here. College has no incentive to ready players for the NFL. I've read that with the NCAA now allowing only 20 total hours per week (including game day) the schools have to keep things as vanilla as possible and cannot spend much time on individual development including things as basic as fundamentals.

Every player entering the league these days require some degree of development. Many of these are thrown to the wolves given the lack of NFL ready players across the entire league. Welcome to the new age of football.

It's being reported that the Saints decided to shut down Kendre Miller for the rest of the year. Hopefully James Robinson will provide that much needed boost during the stretch run.

I'd heard and read the James Robinson signing was because of a Jamaal Williams groin injury during practice. I guess we'll see.

Just two days ago John DeShazier was reporting "he's close" to returning.

Personally not at all surprised on Miller. He was in and out of the lineup here @ TCU (Ft. Worth) over the years.

Again, the Saints need to re visit the RB room via 2024 draft. Miller isn't going to last at this level.

Matt Moscona's take is dead on (terrible coaches not utilizing JWilliams in NO) as usual.

I doubt he reports intentional bad info, I do believe things change by the second in the NFL. Guess we find out over the next couple days if Miller gets put on IR or not.

As for Kamara I don't think we will ever really know what the Saints really wanted to do with him, the salary cap made that decision to keep him around necessary.

I agree. He doesn't intentionally share bad info. He just has a tendency to frequently state his suspicions as fact. He's primarily a commentator as opposed to a reporter.

Speaking of non contributors…

Payton Turner.

Sure as hell could use another DE on Sunday 😳. Should have moved a little more aggressively to bring in another pass rusher before the trade deadline.

The Devito kid sure as hell knows how to take off and
run for first downs. Saqaun Barkley is no slouch either.

For all of those griping about the Saints "letting JPP get stolen off their practice squad" ...

Ever consider he wasn't worth signing to the 53 man roster? He's back to being unemployed after playing a total of 22 defensive snaps and 8 on special teams this season on two teams and three games.

Matt Moscona is known for his LSU coverage and doesn't even watch the Saints games, go to training camp, or go to practices. He is not a person in the know for Saints football. He just parrots other reporters words.

I'm not a fan. I initially liked him but he's too over the top for me.

Edit: He also revoked his Saints fan card when we signed Derek Carr. That, my friends, is a fair weather fan! :dunce:

Agreed, with the addition LB position (just not sold on it, could use a coverage backer; Davis, the leader while still a beast is showing some wear).

I like Payton Wilson from NC State. He's a sideline to sideline LB with great coverage and rushing skills. He opted out of the Pop-Tarts Bowl yesterday from which his absence was very noticeable.

Just watched some highlights, looks quick. wherever he lands, no doubt they will bulk him up some. 6 4 230. I know he's adequate size, but for some reason he still looks a little small. but i do like his quickness.
