Re: Observations from the Saints loss to the Texans
Assuming anything about DC4 after 6 games with one of the worst coaching staff I've ever seen is not wise.

Re: Observations from the Saints loss to the Texans
Injuries have once again decimated the offensive line. We started today's game with only three of five starting linemen in place. We almost immediately lost another one and were down to another makeshift line. Then we lose Ramcyzk kicking Ruiz out to right tackle with Garcia and Saldiveri manning the two guard slots. Any chance at grinding out anything in the second half went down the tubes.
Of course, the two missed FG's didn't help the cause. It's going to be difficult to win the final eleven games, but I'm figuring we'll work it out and still get that #1 seed. |

Re: Observations from the Saints loss to the Texans
Carr's $30 million 2024 salary is fully guaranteed. Although we could cut him and get under the salary cap to take the cap hit sooner and avoid his 2024 $10 million roster bonus becoming guaranteed in March, the move would virtually paralyze us from making any other moves to upgrade or rebuild. Given these circumstances, Carr will presumably go into 2024 as the starting QB. We owe it to him to bring in a new coaching staff and draft oline in every round to give him a chance.
Also Grupe was behind the same lousy oline as Carr. Also Ramczyk is becoming a very old creaky young man. Its not great that we are restructuring his contract every year to create a giant dead cap hit when he is done. We should leave his contract as it is and pay his salary so that the dead cap will reduce in future years and if it becomes time to move on we can or if it becomes time to negotiate a salary reduction we have leverage. I think the percentage of the oline that was healthy today is higher than the percentage of grey matter in PC and Marrone's brains that still works. Coaching is a problem with oline no matter who is healthy. Even if they are all healthy we are still pretty well garbage on oline unless we are playing the Pats. |

Re: Observations from the Saints loss to the Texans
Thos oline was bad when healthy, thos oline was bad last year, and the year before that. Carr isn't the answer but we're stuck with the DA's decision. Defense had their mistakes but they are the only reason we're even in any of these games. PC, we all know what's up with that. I had feelings we were going to lose this game. Saints have a pattern when it comes to losing the packers game revealed all we needed to know then the Buccaneers confirmed it. NE was a facade and dream or nightmare tbh.

Re: Observations from the Saints loss to the Texans
I saw one play late on a replay with Carr making adjustments at the line and Saldiveri looking back over his left shoulder from right guard mouthing, "What?" It's bad enough starting a game at 60% on the line, but then losing two more during the game ... unreal. These backups never get a chance working with the first's and Carr.

Re: Observations from the Saints loss to the Texans
I am not sure my post even criticized the Saints cap management, although it is lousy. I was just stating facts. Carr's contract makes it very hard to move on this year so we have to try something different that includes him next year. Thats a fact. If there is a team in the league with a ton of cap space that could afford to get out of Carr's contract this offseason its not us, it would involve massive salary cap ramifications, its not really an option. Fact. Also, Ram is having injuries and needing frequent rest. If we restructure his salary this offseason we set ourselves up for a $40 million dead cap his if we had to move on in 2025. The way things are going, its not at all clear we will want Ram under his current contract in 2025. Some tackles, like Kyle Turley for example, are not the type that all have long careers. All these things are facts.
