He needs to do a better job than repeating keep doing what you're doing. This approach isn't going to fix this teams coaching multiple problems. Grow a a pair!
Dennis Allen needed to be gone last year.

The optics on that:

1. Pete Carmichael is a scapegoat.

2. It says Dennis Allen believes he has the right play book but Pete cant call plays. If Dennis were talented enough to know the wrong plays are being called, why isn't he calling the right plays now?

3. Pete Carmichael was the OC for the 2009 Super Bowl Champions, did he turn like sour milk? (Sean was calling most of the plays)

Here is the Billion Dollar question... Was it Sean calling our plays for years, or Pete? Based on the biggest drop off in performance coming after 2020 I can make a very strong argument that it was Drew calling the plays on the field.

Re: DENNIS ALLEN…

Apparently the Saints are 1-11 under Dennis Allen against teams with better than .500 record. That is 1 win in 12 games. If we make the playoffs as winner of the weakest division, all 4 games we would need to win for a championship would most likely be against teams with a better than .500 record. This makes it easy to calculate our chances of a ring if we make the playoffs: 1/12 * 1/12 * 1/12 * 1/12 = 1/(12^4) = 1 in 20,736.

Having more fun with statistics, this is Dennis Allen's 5th season as head coach. If he lucks into the playoffs due to our weak schedule, perhaps he can continue to luck into the playoffs every 5 years.

So to figure out how many years it will take Dennis Allen to bring us a ring we can simply take a 1 in 5 seasons chance of making the playoffs and multiply it by the 1 in 20,736 chance of winning a ring with a 1 in 12 win rate against winning teams. So, if we just keep Dennis Allen as head coach for 103,680 years our patience will be rewarded!

Oh and the 1 win we got against an over .500 team? It was against Philly with Minshew, a predictable let down game of a team knowing they will get a pass without their starter.

Saints are currently ranked #7 in penalties.

That's a huge problem. Notice the number of false starts in that graph. We are double more than anyone else on DPI. I thought defense was DA's strong suit?

No accountability from Dennis Allen.

Bills fire OC Ken Dorsey

These are the type of moves ^^^^ that the Saints should be making today, during a bye week. One franchise (Bills) gets embarassed by a non contender on MNF, has aspirations of getting back to the SB & makes an immediate change, and other (Saints) just "hopes" to squeak into the post season & has a HC publicly say "no changes will be made" on the coaching staff after losing to a back up QB on the road .

Mindset needs to change on Airline Dr.

Absolutely agree with all this!
I would love to see Carmichael replaced, and rightly so, but man Allen’s complacency for mediocrity is alarming. The fact that he or Loomis does nothing week after week aggravates the fkn crap out of me

I know we complain about our OC and rightfully so, but Ken Dorsey was significantly worse than Carmichael. Mercy was he bad. I'm surprised he made it through more than half the season.

I think his point is that the Bills had the balls to pull the trigger on their OC. That indicates that the front office has a vested interest in being competitive in the home stretch.

Meanwhile, at the Superdome.... well, it's like that Talking Heads song: Same as it ever was....

Who is available right now that is a definite upgrade? It would pretty much have to be someone from within at this time. They'd have to work within the existing infrastructure. It's impossible to change much of substance such as the playbook and terminology at this point. Basically the same sort of replacement as was Brady with the Bills. I see Curry as the only option.

Curry seems to be a logical jumping off point. I'm of the school that you can't keep doing things the same way, with the same play callers, and expect different results. At this point, we're 5-5 (in a bad division but a chance to win it) with a Bye Week. There won't be a better opportunity to shift gears this season.
