It is no less dangerous than the horse-collar tackle and from what I have heard even more likely to cause serious injury. The NFL is just correcting their mistake of adopting it, as well. From what I'm hearing it probably won't draw a penalty, but will result in a letter from the league and a fine just like some other infractions.

When the competitions committee votes unanimously you knows it's something that was a major concern.
Players are against it, officials won't call it, so what's the point?

The NFL wants increased scoring so they're going to turn the NFL into the NBA by playing no defense while implementing an MLB strike zone for tackling. You can't tackle high, you can't tackle low, and tackling from behind will be difficult.

Sounds like we're in for a treat.
