You're right, its Ireland's staff that ranks the college players. Loomis just pulls the trigger based on their board.

Parenton is the pro personnel director, I'd imagine he rates the NFL free agents

Loomis ain't at college games scouting players for us.

The staff...

Player Personnel

Jeff Ireland VP/Assistant General Manager - College Personnel
Michael Parenton Director of Pro Personnel
Ryan Powell Pro Scout
Justin Matthews Pro Scout
Tosan Eyetsemitan Pro Scout
Mike Baugh National Scout
Terry Wooden National Scout
Mike DiJulio Area Scout
Jon Sandusky Area Scout
Casey Talley Area Scout
Joey Vitt, Jr. Area Scout
Paul Zimmer Area Scout
C.J. Leak Area Scout
Matt Phillips Area Scout
Scott Campbell Senior College Scouting Analyst
Will Martinez Combine Scout
Ziad Qubti College Scouting Coordinator

Re: Saints picks in 2024

Well, regarding Foskey ... I (maybe just me) had HIGH hopes of him coming out of a big time college program & making some sort of an impact as a rookie, especially considering he was a relatively high 2nd round draft selection (see Rams 2023 - 3rd rounder Byron Young).

IIRC, Duncan, Mike & Underhill were quite critical of his performaces @ training camp & subsequent pre season games. TBH, he showed a lack of hustle and technique. Struggled a LOT. For where he was drafted, he needs to bring his A game in 2024.

As for Turner, meh. He can't help if he's always injured & under the tent. This is year 3 for the former 1st rounder.

The QBs we face THIS season can all scramble and make those critical throws. If the Saints scouts can't start nailing their higher draft selections, maybe we need better National scouts.

To truly compete, you need more quality starters and pass rushers.

Cam Jordan is at the end of the road & Granderson needs legit help.

Still got to give WTFoskey the benefit of the doubt at this juncture. But he needs to step up bigly.

I agree Smash. Sometimes it takes a little time to become NFL tough. T-Rex is a prime example. I'm definitely expecting Foskey to come out strong in camp and make a good push for the starting gig, or at the very least, he needs to be a heavy rotational player.

Who Knows? Peyton might become NFL tough too if can get his training regime right and stay on the field. I've got to admit that he is pretty darn good when he's on the field.

Forgot to add that you had me until you uttered something about a Big Time Program in the very same sentence as Notre Dame.

It would be interesting to see just how many ND grads are in the NFL and how long was their career.

So what you're saying is that the Saints put too much stock in the ND program when they should be scouting right in their own backyard (LSU, GA, BAMA, Tulane) ?

Tackle

We need two of em. Ramz should most likely retire, Penning is still a HUGE question mark & Peat could sign elsewhere.

Saints have SERIOUS issues on the o line for sure.

Drafting O LINE is probably top priority.
